Have a Vanness who is not murdering family members for the throne. 

This is from Material Queen, where he is a penniless musician who manages to win the heart of a materialistic girl (let’s face it, you’d totally sleep in a garret for a dude this fine, won’t you?) 

P.S. The Princess Weiyoung is giving me a major cognitive dissonance - I have been hardwired to root for Vanness to succeed AND get the girl in a drama, but in TPW, he’s the bad guy and I do dig the heroine’s actual OTP like mad - but - but - but - still confusing and my brain tries to default to “but he’s Vanness” on a regular basis.

It’s amazing what a difference a few millennia can make. 

Who knew, btw, that Vanness would end up being my favorite member of F4? Ken Chu seems to have fallen off the radar years ago, I like Jerry Yan (the man is fiiiiine), but he doesn’t act in much of anything that is my thing at least. And I used to be obsessed with Vic Chou but he hasn’t been anything (with subs at least) in years. I think the last thing I watched with him was Black and White - which was amazing but almost a decade ago!

But mmmmm, Vanness. Dude ages like fine wine (Holy Beep, Meteor Garden was 16 years ago.) Never thought he’d ever fit into a period drama, and as the villain at that, but I am currently watching The Princess Weiyoung and he’s quietly but competently stealing the drama (and you know me, I am not the girl to go for a villain.)  I would love to see him in more period stuff actually, minus the dreads (seriously what is with the brief but distressing dreads trend in ancient dramas? First Feng Shao Feng in Lan Ling Wang now Vanness in Weiyoung. Or were they worried he’d be too pretty without them or something?)

Some people may think dramas are weird. They are a lot different from american tvshows that I watch but I think they are actually really good and sweet!! Also the soundtracks are great!!
