Hi, do you think math180 is harder or math184 is harder??
I only took 180 so I can’t really say, although 184 tends to have higher averages.

I'm not the best at maths and need Math 180/184 to transfer into Sauder for my second year. Which one do you think is the best one to choose for me? I've heard they're the two best ones for people who aren't amazing at maths. Thanks!
I’ve heard that MATH 184 is easier than MATH 180, MATH 180 has Science applications. You should also consider MATH 110, which is a two-term differential calculus course for students who don’t have super high grades from High School math.

Would your recommend MATH 180 or MATH 184 for someone weak in math and has no calculus experience. I'm entering the faculty of science and I got accepted kind of late.
MATH 184 is known to be at least slightly easier than MATH 180, I took MATH 180 and I have many regrets =P.
I just did math 180 during the summer and the webwork was pretty hard but for each question we got 10 tries so I got perfect on all of them so if you spend a lot of time then it's easy marks, but not too easy
Thanks!
(reminds me of Sapling for Chem 233…)
do we have to go to the MATH 180 workshops?
Usually yes, because you go over questions in groups and may have quizzes.
Hey, so I got my Math 180 midterm back and I bombed it ... 32% ... Do you have any tips on improving? I mean, for the first midterm, I practiced almost all the questions again in my textbook and my webwork homework, so I'm kind of stuck as to how I can get any better :/ idk, I feel really hopeless right now ...
I'm sorry to hear that, calculus is hard, if it helps, I harsh failed my Phys 101 midterm, and it was a sad day, I did end up getting a B+ in the class though haha.
What I did to try to pull up my Phys 101 grade was that I studied one month in advance of the final. I did all the questions that were applicable in the textbook, bought the practice exams and did all those questions, and found some extra resources online.
You really have to take the extra step to get more practice, so that you're more exposed to a greater variety of questions, the internet is amazing for that. Even though you do the textbook and webwork questions, you're just repeating them over and over again, and that's not going to help.
Definitely talk to your TAs during the workshops and ask them for help! They're usually more than willing to answer your questions!
Good luck!
Do you know if Math 100/180 scales by section? I think I totally bombed my midterm yesterday...
I don’t think they scale for the midterms, they usually do some funky statistics work at the end of the term though haha.
Hi, I was just wondering which math course you took in first year and if you know anything about math184 vs math180 for science students. Thanks! :)
I took Math 180, a lot of people tell me that 184 is slightly easier because it has business, not science/engineering applications and the grades are higher. However, the higher grades could be due to a lot of different reasons!
