FUCK THE NEW MATH GED TEST
I've just been sitting here for 6 hours tutoring this girl and reviewing everything that is supposed to be on the test and she was getting everything, she understood everything and then I sat with her for the practice test and oh my god only the most random problems were on there. This test is set up so that 6 out of 10 students who pass high school math fail the math GED. My doctors husband who is getting a PhD in math took this test and had trouble. This test is bullshit and is designed to profit off of low income youth of color and it's so frustrating to watch my students lose their confidence and motivation because they've taken the test 3 times and still could not get a passing grade. The program that I work for employs two instructors through the local community college neither of whom are at all competent enough in math. I myself am barely qualified to tutor this shit.
