If you cut a regular tetrahedron ABCD in half in between AB and CD (along the plane parallel to and equidistant from each), you get a square, like so:
Now take a 4-simplex (also known as a 5-cell), the 4-dimensional regular polytope with 5 equidistant vertices, and label the vertices ABCDE. What three-dimensional solid do you obtain by cutting along the hyperplane at the halfway point between AB and CDE?
