3.14.15!!!
Happy Pi Day! I’m super excited about today because this day only comes around once every century!
HUMA had our celebration yesterday to kick of spring break! I made a pie for it and almost won the pie-baking contest (3rd place!) and was pretty dang proud of myself for that, aaaand the Pi-recitation contest just kinda turned into everyone mumbling it along and then chanting it and laughing when we were struggling with it.
Anyways, at exactly 9:26:53am I gave my man a biiiig Pi-day smooch and I’m gonna do it again at 9:26:53pm (not that there won’t be other smooches but those are Pi-smooches!). I made another Pi-day-pie for us today, aaand I really really wanna watch some math themed movies. Theory of Everything, Imitation Game, A Beautiful Mind, Proof, Little Man Tate, and of course Pi...a couple others I can’t remember. I have them stacked out by the television as a teeny tiny hint.
It’s also kinda fun that the digit after the 5 is 9 becaaaaause 9 months ago today is when Aleis and I first met, which is kinda awesome. It’s our 8 month anniversary, which is awesome too, buuuut it doesn’t fit into Pi since the first 5 digits are 3.14159.
Aaaanyways, Happy Pi-day! Enjoy some irrational fun on this celebration of this lovely irrational number!
Text Message 7/11/14: Solve for R
[Aleis]: For a moment there I was a bit embarrassed about my degree of geek.
[Sochi]: I am currently sitting in front of the television, working through a calculus book for fun...I don't think I have the right to call aaaaanyone a geek.
[Aleis]: I hope saying so doesn't offend, but you make a pretty little calculator. QUICK! 25683 X 2579753 = 46r. I'm joking. Don't actually solve that. For the love of god.
[Sochi]: r=1.44x10^9 in scientific notation but 1,440,000,000. That was head-math!
[Aleis]: ......I will love you during shopping trips.
[Sochi]: Well, technically that's really estimated to a significant digit because I didn't want to solve more than two decimal places. So it's not equal so much as an approximation.
[Sochi]: Hee hee...I can get you the best deal for your money, including figuring out what coupons to use for what items and whether or not certain items are marked up and whether or not to buy bulk. Those 10 for 10 and 2 for 5 aren't always all they're cracked up to be.
