since someone asked you your top 10 baldwin moments (rude), what about your top 10 philippe moments?

Are you kidding, Philippe’s barely in the books! Someone ask me something about my general interests!! (I’m still gonna answer this, aren’t I)

I’ll put the whole mystery surrounding Philippe’s death that gets uncovered in “Shadow of Night”, because it was tragic and interesting. 

The fact that we don’t see Philippe for quite some time in SoN, but his presence is EVERYWHERE, and that paints an intriguing figure that was already intriguing when he was solely mentioned in ADOW. From Matthew receiving Philippe’s coin to Philippe requesting both Matthew and Diana to stand before him immediately upon their arrival in Sept-Tours.

Philippe and Diana’s conversation in Marthe’s room. It’s more of a Diana moment, but here Philippe is pushing Diana and Matthew’s relationship in the direction of openness and honesty, and those dumb lovebirds should be thankful.

Philippe simultaneously managing both to scold Matthew on not sleeping with Diana and to cockblock him.

The kiss was excellent. It’s like the entire universe looked at these two and went “alright, at least one of you is going to be dead in a minute, better make this good” (Also, I... may just have seen the one film version of Pride and Prejudice and I don’t think that bit happened there ::cough::)

And very much yes to your other points. It was... a very emotional episode, let’s say. (Really, really good payoff, though)

It’s kinda the “I screwed up but I enjoyed it and...

Re the caster of the curse... look, there’s a short list of suspects, and Drizella just shot to the very top of it. None of the main protagonists are in the race (at least not as primary instigators), and there are so many reasons why I don’t think Tremaine did it... well, OK, it’s mostly that I keep thinking “but that would be so disappointing”, but still. Tower Lady is still in the running, but we don’t really get much from her except “whatever happened between her and Tremaine must have sucked and I’m dying to find out”.

Ahem. All that aside: like I said elsewhere, if the reveal is done well, I’m pretty sure being wrong about this will be as fun as being right. I’d just prefer to wait and find out.

Regarding the Regal Believer stuff... for me, it’s less that adult!Henry is more relatable, and more that he’s so much worse off this time around. Amnesiac little s3 Henry still had memories of a happy life with his mother (even if they were all fake). This Henry has memories of being shuffled around the foster system and then, and I will never shut up about this, losing his family in a fire. His memories suck and he feels so very alone in the world. The fact that everything he ever wanted is right in front of him and he doesn’t know it is both very good from a storytelling perspective and extremely painful from a viewer perspective. Just... buddy. They’re right there. All the family you could ever want. Please. Just wake up.

With Regina, the source of pain is basically the same, but with a different twist—in s3 she had anxieties about being replaced and no longer being a part of Henry’s life because of it. s7 Regina is afraid that she won’t be needed anymore now that he’s an adult. I’m curious to see how they explore that further, now that she remembers.
