Okay so this dude named Antoine Léry, nicknamed Moustapha, got sentenced in 1806 to 20 years for murder without premeditation. He escaped (not sure what year, it’s cut off because I am stupid) and was sentenced to life in 1819 for a completely different crime under the name of Antoine-Marie Valéry. They didn’t realize who he was until he showed up at Toulon again. In April 1829 he was transferred to Brest because of the August 20, 1828 decree that stated that Toulon should be reserved for people serving sentences of 10 years or fewer.
