Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag [ten] friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them.
Ssssso I've just seen the mention by Martina (kierkegaawd) so here I am.
1. Ban Pong - Dove si mangiano le cavallette by Michael Cox. I can't find the original name of the book but anyway. Someone gave me this book as a present (I had less than 10 years for sure) and I don't even know how many times I read it when I was a child… This book is the reason why I'd like to go to Thailand, one day. I'm really fond of it.
2. Momo by Michael Ende. Another book I read countless times when I was younger and sometimes I read it again because it's a fairytale yes but man how great it is. They made an animation film about it back in the time and I loved it a lot and yeah. It warms my heart, it's a feel good kind of story and I literally want to recommend it to everyone.
3. American Gods by Neil Gaiman. The book that made me know and love Gaiman! I love mythology even though I haven't studied it that much. I adore Gaiman's style and this story is really beautiful and mystical and I'm in love with it. Shadow is a fantastic name. Also there's Anubis and ofc he's awesome af.
4. Le città invisibili (Invisible Cities) by Italo Calvino. I had to read it at high school for an assignment and it's so surreal. It's about Marco Polo telling stories about the (imaginary) cities that he found during his travels and I find it fantastic.
5. Tenera è la notte (Tender Is The Night) by F. S. Fitzgerald. This book is so tragic, IIIII love it. It took years to actually go through with it because when I was younger I didn't appreciate it that much but then, some years later, I picked it up again and I finished it at light speed. I do need to read it again since it's been a while but I have good memories of it.
6. Memorie di Adriano (Mémoires d'Hadrien) by Marguerite Yourcenar. I want to smash windows for how good this book is. It has been a really long time since I read it but oh god who cares IT WAS SO GREAT, SO. MUCH. For no real reason I always liked Adriano and that book makes you want to kill yourself with your bare hands. Sooo beautiful.
7. Il capolavoro sconosciuto (Le Chef-d’œuvre inconnu) by Honore de Balzac. It's a really short story, to be actually fair. But anyway! I read it for an exam (or actually, the professor told us to read it not for the exam itself but for the story because it deserved to be read) and it's really close to my heart.
8. Cent'anni di solitudine (Cien Años de Soledad) by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I read it every time I was on the public transportation when I was going to attend the first year of academy's lessons and it has been my companion for all that year. It brings a tear to my eye because I'm sentimental and whatever.
9. L'alchimista (o Alquimista) by Paulo Coelho. Yeah I know, I know. He's not loved and I couldn't care less. It's a nice book and it made me feel good and that's what is really important. (y)
10. Dieci Piccoli Indiani (And Then There Were None) by Agatha Christie. MY JAMMMMMMMM. No okay I adore her and this book has a huge spot in my heart. Everything is inevitable and awful <3
