It was tradition to start off his time at the Holiday Festival with his family at the Jewish Center where they’d spend time together, fill their bellies with jelly donuts and play the dreidel. It had been that way since the first one and Jake always looked forward to it. After that he had parted ways with his parents and his son, holding onto Eleanor’s hand while they both made their way towards downtown, each with a sufganiyot in hand. “Did you have lots of fun this year, Ellie?” Jake takes a moment to look down at her, brown curls bouncing as she eagerly nods at him. He’s about to say something else when he collides with someone, his donut flying away before he could stop it from slipping out of his hand. “Oh, dammit!” He mumbles out of surprise, gaze lifting towards the person. “Hey, are you okay? I didn’t hurt you or ruin that awesome sweater, did I?”

Thaddeus walked slowly through the streets, nursing a cup of coffee and savoring both the caffeine as well as the warmth it provided. He was quietly thankful that the streets were not too crowded. It had been tempting to stay holed up in either the library or his home during the festival like he did the last few years but he really wanted to try to be more social. He dealt with enough ribbing during his calls home that he had lived in Mapleview for a while now and he acted like a stranger. He still wasn’t a fan of this cold and snow thing. He stopped and watched the skaters on the rink for a moment or two. “Probably would fall if I tried. I have a hard enough time staying upright in winter without strapping knives to my feet and tempting fate on the ice...”
