ABOUT JAKE | STATS
jake grew up in a home filled with nothing but love. as the only child of andrew and sarah, he was spoiled rotten ( but in the nicest way possible ).ย
a lot of his personality comes from his father, a retired comedian, that taught him having a good sense of humor and looking at life from a positive perspective were truly the most important things.
as a teenager, jake was very focused and centered when it came to his academic life, something his mother taught him. he wasnโt a party guy but he definitely was known around as the funny guy or the dorky guy that everyone seemed to loved.
he met his future wife, leah, when he was just seventeen and if you ask him about it, heโll obviously describe it as love at first sight. their connection was instant and it didnโt take long before the two started dating.
the lovebirds married soon after graduation and started their lives together. a few years later, their first son came as a surprise but still very loved nonetheless. that wasnโt a hardship for the young lovers, they pulled through together as a family whilst raising a baby and being college students.
life in the horowitz household wasnโt always perfect, jake can acknowledge that, but it pretty damn near to it. with their degrees, the two soon were able to stabilize themselves and build a real home on the house he still lives in to this day at sycamore way.
about four years ago, leah surprisingly found out she was expecting. even if it was somewhat of a risky pregnancy, she decided to go through with it and jake obviously supported her choice. at the time of delivery, a beautiful baby girl was born but unfortunately, leah lost too much blood and passed away
the year that followed was probably the hardest in jakeโs life. mourning the loss of the love of his life while raising a son and caring for a baby as well as having a full time job wasnโt easy in the least -- heโs just glad he had his friends and his parents to help him out.
obviously, jake bounced back. even if he missed her dearly, he knew he had to pull through for the sake of his children. and that he did with a full smile on his face and his optimistic view of life intact.

Laughing softly as Jake wraps an arm around him, Stef looks over at his friend, grinning back in his direction.ย โI think that youโre buzzed, my friend. Andย that you look fine as hell.โ He teases back, nudging him playfully in the side. He was happy to see Jake letting loose and having a good time, he definitely deserved it.ย โThatโs a very good question. Stef more than anyone knew that it was hard to see Jake like that since he was usually busy with school or his kids. But in all honesty, sometimes he really did deserve some fun.ย โSilly? Now, letโs go find you that beer and then see a hat thatโd fit you.โ Jake tips his cowboy hat as he starts to lead his friend towards the nearest stand selling drinks.ย โSo, are you having fun so far? She playfully grinned back at him, feeling much better, knowing that he was on the same page like her.ย โSounds like a deal, but that doesnโt mean youโre allowed to come late unless itโs a real excuseโ, she fixed him with a look before a laughter broke the moment again, making her forget how warm her face felt in that moment. Shifting in her seat a little, Lili listened to him attentively and reached over without thinking, gently patting his forearm.ย โHey, youโre doing great. Placing her hand back on the table, she nearly felt her jaw dropping when he said that he never had or even tried them. โI swear they are! I mean if you donโt like it after you tasted them, Iโll pay for the next dessert of your choice. Plus a cup of coffee?โ
Jake chuckles at the comment she makes, shaking his head a few times.ย โI wouldnโt dream of it. I mean it. I hate being late.โ He wrinkles his nose as he says it between chuckles. The sudden pats on his arm makes him smile and feel more confident about himself. It was nice to know she wasnโt judging him for beingย โout of the gameโ or something like that, that for sure made him feel more comfortable.ย โOn fire? she watched as her son went away with his nanny, smiling as she had finally some time for herself and quickly went to the nearest booth that sold some drinks, buying a bottle of beer - might as well treat herself one while sheโs here. taking a sip from it, lili texted jake to meet her up at the barrel racing place and then put her phone back in her pocket before making her way over to it. they had agreed to meet up even if it was not for a long time, since she came to the rodeo with javi and maybe thatโs why she had decided to doll herself up a little bit instead of her original plan: bare-faced with a cowboy hat covering half of her face. smiling at the familiar faces passing by her, she finally arrived at their meeting point and took another good swing from her beer, glancing around, fighting the urge to take a quick smoke to calm down her nerves somehow.
After the coffee date with Lili, Jake had become more confident about himself and his dating game. Thus far, the two had enjoyed each otherโs company and other than the minor slip of not calling back after the first date, he hadnโt quite messed things up yet. The two had agreed to meet up at the rodeo and when he received her message to meet up, Jake couldnโt help but to feel excited. It was funny to him how much he felt like a teenager all over again. Grabbing himself a bottle of beer on the way there ( since he could actually enjoy them without having to worry about his little girl ) in order to cool off his nerves, Jake felt somewhat buzzed but he was sure it was about Lili and not the alcohol itself. Once he spots her, the beer had already settled onto his system and boosted his confidence some more, which is probably the reason behind his playful greeting.ย โTo quote Bob Dylan himselfย โ what's a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this?โ Jake says in his worst best southern accent, grinning at Lili.ย โI hope Iโm not interrupting your smoking session.โ He chuckles lightly, bringing his bottle of beer towards his lips for a sip.
โStef!โ Jake greets his friend with a large smile on his face, wrapping him into a warm hug before he pulls away and strikes a pose to show off his newest purchaseย โ a brand new cowboy hat.ย โSo, how do I look? Does this make me look better or itโs just not for me? Because I personally think I look fine as hell.โ He chuckles. The perks of not having to look after his daughter was that Jake was able to enjoy a few more beers than his usual limit which meant he was most definitely tipsy by now.ย โThat brings me to question: why arenโt you wearing a cowboy hat right now?โ
