Okay, but like the Hawkeye comics are such a great example of good dialogue. There’s literally a treasure trove of quotes in there. “Coffee, no!” “Boomerang arrow. It comes back to you.” The list goes on. Matt Faction is a literal genius, and I need to complete my Hawkeye comic collection, I’m missing the last volume of Matt Faction’s run.
Hello. I'm making a web comic with my friends, and one of the main characters is autistic nonverbal and uses ASL to communicate. I've been trying to figure out how to put it visually though, do you know of any comics that have deaf characters? I'd love to see/read some for reference. Would it be right to draw her signing part of the sentence, and have the whole thing in a speech bubble?
Mod m here! I do, in fact, know of a great comic that does this thing!!!! It’s Matt Factions Hawkeye! He basically draws the character using the static(non-moving) motions with arrows in the same way sign language books do! It’s really cool!!!

Look, I've never had a job, not a real job. Not a job my dad didn't get me...but I've worked. I've worked hard for things. Harder than you'd ever believe. But I never needed a job because I never needed money until now. Look, we're all adults here. We've all seen the 'Welcome to the Jungle' video. I cowboyed out in Los Angeles and in the span of forty-eight hours got taken for everything I had. It's an old story, and maybe I should known better. Rookie mistake, right? But I am telling you now: I might be young, but I am good, I work hard, and I'm a good person. I know what's right. I know what's wrong. And if you give me this chance-- if you give me one shot to show you how good I can be, how hard I work, how much I believe in doing the right thing-- I won't let you down. I promise.
Kate Bishop, Hawkeye Annual #1 (2013) by Matt Faction
Faction has an interesting storyline with Satellite Sam, but I gave this comic 3 stars out of five. My reasons: 1) the dialogue, despite being for an adult audience, has foul language and that's my personal preface as I personally don't like it. 2) A little historical bit in it is very, very off, as AT&T did not exist till 1963, not 1951, so it should be the BELL Telephone Company (or 'Ma Bell' as older audiences would call it nostalgically.) If this was Sci-Fi or Fantasy, I would not have bothered, but since this a crime drama series set in the early 1950s America, it should try to be realistic. Aside from those two quibbles, its a good and fun read. I would definitely recommend it to readers who like crime mystery dramas, (and don't mind the foul language and adult themes.)
I cosplayed as Hawkguy at the Salt lake Comic Con. I specifically went as Matt fractions and David Aja's Clint Barton. So i did a lot of bandages accurate to how and where he has them in the series. i did not realize how much hair it would take off. i have a few bald patches on my arms now. Nerd wounds.
