dunno why but this came to mind as soon i recovered from THAT kiss.

like that scene with matt back in series 23 almost felt like a goodbye. instead of kissing him like i thought she would nikki hugged him and looked sad about it, almost as if she knew their relationship was coming to an end (even tho it didn't for ages but we haven't seen matt since so you get my point hopefully lol).

and then the scene with jack. not only was the lighting and the framing perfect (almost angelic if you ask me, compared to the darker scene above), their kiss felt like a new beginning of sorts, like nikki had finally realised what was in front of her.

i think my point is that paralleling these two rather similar scenes shows nikki at the end of a relationship and then at the beginning of a new one.
