Jack finds out your secret after a paint party at his new house. He’d bought the building at a steal for the both of you. Something he hasn’t told you yet because the damn thing more of a fixer up than he originally thought and he’s been working day and night trying to make it liveable.
The paint party had been your idea, get a few people round to help with the walls, have a few laughs, pay them in pizza. He’s dispatched Nikki and Velvy to start in the bedroom because he wants to spend a couple of minutes alone with you. There hasn’t been much time for connection recently between your shifts and him being here. He knows you feel that distance just as acutely as he does.
“You’ve been quiet tonight.” He remarks as he stands beside you, using his roller on the wall in front of him. “Is everything alright lovie?”
“Yea.” You say before dropping your roller into the tray and sighing. “Actually not really.”
This is it, he thinks as you reach into the pocket of your dungarees, the moment you tell him that things aren’t working out between the two of you. He doesn’t expect for you to place a little white stick in his hand, he doesn’t expect the test to be positive.
“Oh.” He says as he stares down at the tiny blue cross. “We’re pregnant.”
“Yea.” You sigh, tucking your hands back into your dungarees. “Yea we are.”
