i’ve been replaying RE4 for like the millionth time and it reminded me of that zombie AU that i come back to every so often. wanted to do some more concepts for it.
the year is meant to be 2006, with the main gangs in stilwater still being the ones in sr1, but i still want characters from sr2 to make an appearance just to add more drama to the mix. so just imagine the time period is some combination of both those games. the plot is basically that during a gang fight, anteros gets shot critically and falls into a coma. he wakes up a few months later to the world having gone to shit. he initially meets with lin (who was undercover at the time and for now is just kinda stuck with the rollerz) and donnie who fill him in on what happened. after they get him situated, anteros ventures off on his own to find the saints. he heads to the police station first to see if there’s still weapons in the armory—where he encounters troy. after things went bad, troy was pulled out of his undercover case and forced back to the station, but things got so bad everyone else abandoned the place. troy’s just been holed up in there since. after some back and forth and some apologies from troy, the two head out to find others, eventually finding johnny and aisha. after some convincing, the four team up and continue on their quest to get the saints back. and just survive somehow.

And no this Matt isn’t Matt Miller in case you can’t tell, he’s Maero’s best friend and the guitarist for The Feed Dogs and he does all the tattoo work for The Brotherhood
Whenever Maero’s busy with business and Matt has some free time, he likes to drop by Donnie’s garage and just hang out
He also spends a lot of time hanging out with Donnie at his apartment
Donnie really appreciates it, he’s always struggled making friends and since Lin and Joseph died, he’s been pretty much on his own
He tries really hard not to be clingy with Matt but it’s just so nice to have a real friend again
Matt literally doesn’t even notice at first when Donnie’s being clingy, he likes spending time with the guy and he likes that apparently Donnie likes it too
Jessica is the one who brings it up first when Maero’s at his meeting with The Boss and Carlos
“You and Donnie have really hit it off huh? He follows you around like a puppy when y’all aren’t working.”
Matt’s barely even paying attention, just tuning his guitar, “Huh? Oh, yeah...I guess. He’s pretty cool.”

Matt also absolutely gives Donnie free pass to hang out backstage with the Feed Dogs at their gigs and makes sure he has one of the best seats with Maero and Jessica
Donnie really isn’t much of a heavy metal guy but hey! he gets to hang out with his friends! count him in!
Matt also totally plays guitar and sings for Donnie when they’re hanging out
He tries and fails to teach Donnie how to play
Donnie gets too flustered and after a few attempts, Matt just chalks it up as something Donnie either doesn’t have an interest in or just not an acquirable skill for him
In turn, Donnie tries to show Matt the ropes for mechanic work
Matt literally cannot grasp all the car parts and tools and just it’s all way too much for him but he just keeps letting Donnie try because he’s trying. He wants to show him this stuff and it’s something he personally is really passionate about
Matt starts taking Donnie to the arcade when he finds out that he’s pretty much become a chronic workaholic and doesn’t take a lot of time off to just chill and have fun
Matt destroys Donnie at Guitar Hero and Donnie shreds him at skeeball
This also turns into Matt taking Donnie as his plus one to various music events and festivals and to local shows since Maero’s busy running a gang now
Donnie still does not understand all the music stuff, but Matt thinks it’s the coolest shit so it MUST be cool and worthwhile
They’ve got a pretty playful relationship and Matt gives Donnie a hard time a lot but it’s always with a smile and an offer to help if he needs it
But only he’s allowed to give Donnie a hard time, don’t be a dick to Donnie when Matt’s around cause he’ll step in and give you a hard time for pushing his boy around
Donnie’s also quick to trust so he’s pretty fast to tell Matt about Lin and the Rollerz
Matt is the only one to learn about the depth of Donnie’s involvement with the Rollerz, like yeah everyone knows he ran with them, but for the most part, none of the Brotherhood (Maero included) know he was best friends with Joseph Price himself and they really don’t know about Lin
Matt takes it upon himself to stay the night at Donnie’s every year on the anniversary of Lin’s death, he shows up with his guitar, Freckle Bitch’s, and a different selection of movies every time
He never tells Donnie that it’s because he’s worried about the guy and that he wants to help and make him smile some but Donnie knows well enough
They just hang out and play video games and talk for the most part
They also have a Fast and the Furious marathon once a year
Matt just thinks they’re cool movies, he likes the action and he thinks the cars look fuckin awesome
Donnie is a lot more critical of them as someone who’s got a personal stake in street racing and building cars but he likes to watch them just to point out all the mistakes and how “unrealistic” they are
Matt just nods and laughs along but picks up a few common mistakes and starts pointing them out himself when he watches the movies with his other friends/Maero
Absolutely neither of them can cook to save their lives
They just order take out constantly
They did try to teach themselves how to cook once but it ended in calling the fire department to Matt’s place and him needing to stay at Donnie’s for a few weeks after the fire
They decided to just leave the cooking to Maero and Jessica when they all hang out
Of course Matt’s the one to give Donnie his first tattoo
They were both stoned as hell and Donnie mentioned out of the blue always wanting a tattoo but never getting one
Matt offers to help with that and it ends with Donnie getting a Feed Dogs tattoo on his shoulder
He complained the whole time but refused to give up when Matt offered to stop if it was hurting too much
Unsurprisingly Matt’s the one to make a first move
They’re both high or buzzed or a little of both, hanging out at Donnie’s place and Donnie’s prattling on about cars or something and they’re already practically sitting on top of each other and Matt just kind of goes for it and kisses Donnie
There’s a minute where they’re both quiet and Donnie thinks for a moment that Matt definitely did not actually kiss him but then he does it again and Donnie decides it’s better not to question if it’s real or in a dream or something
They try to keep it underwraps at first but they’re also pretty bad at hiding it when they sneak off to go makeout like a couple of dumb teenagers
One of Maero’s lieutenants catches them in the back of Donnie’s car and Maero has a fit laughing when they tell him about it
Maero is weirdly supportive, Jessica is less so but she keeps her mouth shut about it
Maero also gives Donnie A Talk that follows along the lines of “If you hurt Matt, I’ll snap your spine, Donnie”
He laughs and says he’s joking after but he follows that up with a stern look that leaves Donnie with a feeling he wasn’t kidding
Matt’s the one to show up and help Donnie patch up after The Boss roughs him up looking for Carlos
Donnie’s also the one to take Matt to get his hand fixed up at the hospital after The Boss burns it up
Matt likes to scratch the names of people he dates into the back of his guitar, Donnie’s is the last name he scratches into it and it’s got a buncha extra nicks in it and took a few attempta cause he was messing around while Donnie worked on his car and he kept messing up or Donnie would purposely mess him up
After Matt’s killed, Donnie decides then and there to just get the hell outta dodge. Hometown or not, between Joseph, Lin, Matt, and eventually Maero as well, he’s out of luck staying in Stilwater. He just can’t win with the Saints around
He also takes Matt’s guitar with him when he leaves and starts teaching himself to play cause it’s something he can do to keep Matt in his life
