The Baltimore Orioles have had a rough decade of baseball finishing last in the division for several years and failing to have a .500 record for over a decade. Could this be the year it changes?
10 games into the season, the O’s are atop the AL East with a 6-4 record and won convincingly tonight in Chicago posting 6 runs in the top of the 10th after two home-runs in the 9th to tie it up. Yes, this is the same O’s team who got whooped last week at home by the Yankees. And now the O’s faithful ask, is this the year our luck changes?
Their starting pitchers look great and so far, the bull-pin has done a good job in controlling games and keeping things close (with the exception of Kevin Gregg, who I don’t like at all). The bats have certainly come alive as well. 10 games into the season, the O’s are in the top five of HR’s (14) and slugging percentage (.458) led my Matt Weiters and Adam Jones who are just playing phenomenal baseball. It’s hard not to get excited if you are an O’s fan.
It’s exciting to see a good start and I only hope I can continue to write good things. I’ll also be sharing quotes and opinions from my fellow amateur sports expert K-Close (@Closer_than_You).

Haven't done one of these in a while but.....this is a Matt Weiters appreciation post.
Orioles 8 Indians 3
The orioles came out swinging today as the offense exploded for 10 hits and 8 runs giving the O's their 2nd win in a row and a series split with Cleveland. Although the offense got it done the starting pitching was not as successful as Mitch Atkins went only 3 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, Mark Hendrickson would come in for the next 3 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit and 2 walks while picking up the W for the day. Cleveland jumped on the bored first with a 3 run first inning but that would be the end of the scoring for the Indians as they left 11 runners on base. The Orioles, lead behind solo home runs from Jones, Markakis and Weiters and a 3 run jack from Robert Andino would would lift the Orioles to a commanding win. Robert Andino went 1-4 with 4 RBIs and and 2 runs. Matt Weiters and Derek Lee both went 2-4 with Weiters picking up an RBI and 2 runs and Lee getting a run scored.
Side note. JJ hardy did not hit leadoff today as Buck Showalter opted to start Matt Angle in left field and lead off for his Major League debut. Matt weiters was the DH for todays game as Vlad has been sent to the DL while Craig Tatum made the start behind the plate. Adam Jones got his start batting cleanup and and went 1-4 with a homerun for a run scored and an RBI.
Orioles look to keep the W's coming as they start a 3 game homestand with Boston tomorrow at 7:05.
