Children of God
Jesus, by His blood, purchased us, but He does not treat us as slaves. Instead He has prayed to the Father that we have the Spirit of adoption. By this Spirit we call God our Father! Jesus has made us part of the family of God!
When Jesus, our High Priest, offered Himself on the cross, He bore His sacrifice into the Holy of holies in heaven, with His body and blood He has torn down the veil that separated us from God our Father. Making a way for us to directly enter into the presence of God, our Father, in the name of Jesus. And Jesus Himself is at the right hand of God making intercession for us. When we pray in the name of Jesus we are instantly transported into the presence of God.
Since we are the children of God we need to understand our privileges and responsibilities. It is our privilege that we can call God our Father, which means as a child trusts its Father so can we trust God. We can trust God to provide for us. We can trust God to come to our rescue, to always be attentive to our prayers. To take joy in us, as a father would in his children. It also means that He disciplines us from time to time so that we do not go astray. We need to enjoy and cherish our relationship with God our Father but also fear and respect Him. We can look to Him to answer our prayers because:
Romans 8:32 (KJV) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Matthew 7:11 (KJV) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
