Idea for a Jonas multiship AU inspired by those Chinese inner court dramas

Setting: Unnamed old emperor just died recently. Succession issues arise.

- Jonas: beloved concubine who is also sickly so is always sequestered in his room. Everyone knows of this legendary concubine but barely anyone was allowed to see him. So actually, not many know that the concubine is a male. Sickly could just mean the emperor was obsessed with him and kept him locked up. Now that the emperor is dead, well…

- Wout: top-tier general and advisor. Also a distant relative of the emperor. He has many supporters wishing he’ll be emperor (he doesn’t particularly want it though). One of the few people who actually knows the face of the beloved concubine.

- Primož: son of the empress and is next in line for emperor— survived many poisoning attempts so he has a bit of a cynical pov. His mother hated the beloved concubine, of course, and she has plans to kill Jonas now that the emperor is dead. That plan might have to involve Primož getting close to Jonas.

- Tadej: the youngest and most successful general. Another promising candidate to succeed and has many supporters (especially the public.) But he doesn’t like doing any of the inner court stuff and would hate to get caught up in politics. Would rather be outside, in battle, on a horse. Once upon a time, he actually came across Jonas in the palace hunting grounds during the concubine’s early escape attempts.

- Matteo: eunuch. Actually, since he was a eunuch, the emperor trusted him around Jonas so he also functioned as his caretaker. (The emperor was very protective of Jonas and only allowed a few people to interact with him— and Matteo was the latest eunuch given the task.) Matteo was cheerier than any other eunuch Jonas has met and they got along well. Talking with Matteo is the most fun Jonas has had in a while and Jonas likes that he’s a good kid. He doesn’t know, though, that his kind, cheerful eunuch might have something to do with the emperor’s death…

He would 😭

I feel like usually, Jonas has a soigneur who is ready to help him and they're the one who applies sunscreen on him. But then one day, that guy was busy and Jonas, very casually, just says "Edo, can you help me with this?"

And like Matteo is staring slack-jawed at Edo helping Jonas put on sunscreen thinking THAT'S ALLOWED???

Then ever since then, he's always vigilant, ready to jump in if Jonas needs help (especially if it involves skin-to-skin contact.)
