for a split second when matthew sensed another vampire in his lab he thought it was marcus or miriam. his hopes were quickly dashed as a foreign scent reached his nose. it seemed lately the only vampires he could run into were strangers. he found himself missing his family, even baldwin. he looked up from his computer at the stranger. "can i help you with something? this is a private lab. did you get lost? are you new here and looking for other creatures?"

matthew had been working with dna samples in his lab when his senses seemed to dull. colors no longer seemed as bright and he couldn't hear noise from any of the surrounding labs. that was strange. it was almost like his human senses were back. thinking that maybe he had been working too hard and needed to take a break he left the lab for fresh air. when he walked outside he saw the city had erupted into chaos. he grabbed a passerby's arm, stopping them from walking away. "what happened here?"

"how did you know one of my names starts with an s?" matthew asked cocking his head to the side confused. yes philippe had given him the name sebastien but he never really chose to go by it. he certainly didn't have any documents lying around here with it. no something was strange about this girl. it was obvious she was another vampire, probably from one of the other sub-species, but there was still something strange."

matthew had noticed a girl staring at him for a good few minutes now. she didn't smell like a witch or daemon but the way she was staring at him made him feel uneasy. he didn't recognize her so she wasn't someone he had upset. ...but there was lazar. was this someone who knew him? "i take it from how you're staring at me you know lazar. you've got the wrong man. my name's matthew clairmont."

matthew was still wary around the blonde. there was a voice in the back of his that sounded a lot like ysebeau telling him this was dangerous. however the only way he figured he could get answers about what was happening to him involved him talking to the witch. "it was. i felt like i was living in the elizabethan era again. i saw- so many people i haven't thought about in ages." he had been about to say philippe but that was too dangerous to mention, too painful. "the one part i don't understand is why i was dreaming about magic, about you."

matthew shook his head, trying to keep himself from laughing at the human's misplaced concern. while a human technically could kill him his speed would make it a challenge. the real concern were other creatures, witches in particular, but he couldn't smell any nearby. "thank you for the warning but i don't believe it's needed. i'm a lot tougher than i look."
