During John Mayer’s two terms at Berklee College of Music (beginning at age 19) he wrote/co-wrote a collection of songs…

Victoria, Love Soon, Man on the Side, Sucker and Comfortable.

These tracks would feature regularly in John’s early shows in Atlanta after his move there in 1998.

The Berklee group photograph features (from left to right) Clay Cook, John Mayer and Matt Mangano. Clay Cook was in fact the one who told Mayer to move to Atlanta (Hear John talk about it HERE) John and Clay formed the duo Lo-Fi Masters before going their separate ways right before Mayer’s recording (at Orphan Studio) of the EP Inside Wants Out. Clay co-wrote a bunch of songs with John Mayer including the hit No Such Thing and fan favourite Neon.

Matt Mangano later became John’s roommate in Atlanta and a touring musician during Mayer’s early tour of the US in early 2000/2001 and parts of 2002. See Matt Mangano (the band’s additional guitar player) on tour with JM HERE

Both Matt Mangano and Clay Cook now play in the Zac Brown Band.
