Holiday Flash Fic Challenge: Day 4
Pairing: Matt Peake x Reader
Prompt: “Oh, I made those cookies just for you but you thought they were for the whole office.”
Word Count: 453
Requester: @whysamwhy123
You felt a tap on your shoulder so you slipped your headphones off and turned around not sure what to expect but you smiled upon seeing Matt. His face instantly lit up as he pulled a lid off a cookie tin and held them out for you.
“Holy shit! These look so good, Matt,” you told him peering in at the individually decorated and handmade cookies. You reached in taking a gingerbread cookie and held it up, “Thank you.”
You slipped your headphones back on and turned back to get back to work. Matt looked at you and sighed softly. He knew he should have said something but he always seemed to get tongue-tied around you. He put the lid back on the tin and slid it next to you before going back over to his desk.
A little while later you noticed the tin and looked at Bruce next to you. You slipped off your headphones and asked, “Did you get one of Matt’s cookies?” You pointed at the container between the two of you, really tempted to go for another cookie but you didn’t want to be greedy if not everyone else had a chance first.
Bruce looked down, “No. Peake, you made cookies and didn’t share?” He opened the container and turned to James and shouted, “Did you get a cookie? I didn’t get a cookie.”
“No. Did Peake make cookies for the office?” he asked, coming over as Bruce opened the container.
A thought suddenly dawned on you. You watched as your coworkers started shouting at each other over the cookies and got up from your desk. You took the spot next to Matt now that the chair was empty. You could tell Matt was trying to focus on his computer but failing big time. Slowly he slid off his headphones and looked over at you.
You gave him a soft smile and reached over, touching his arm gently, “Those cookies were just for me weren’t they.”
Matt looked like he was trying to figure out a way to tell you that you were right without making you feel dumb.
You shook your head, “That was my bad. I should have known. Hopefully there is some left over after they pick through but either way, thank you.” You leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
Matt’s whole face lights up with a smile as he looks back at you, “You know I can always make more.”
You smile back just happy he’s not mad, “How about since you made dessert, I can make dinner? Tonight if that works?”
“I’d love nothing more,” he agreed, nodding excitedly.
“Can’t wait,” you gave his arm a soft squeeze.
Hi, can you please do a fluffy Matt Peake fic? There is so little and I am dying for more!
“What’s this?” you picked up the box on your desk, looking around but everyone was engrossed in their own work.
You shrugged and pulled off the paper, your jaw dropping a little as you revealed a set of headphones you’ve been eyeing for months but they just have not been in your budget.
“Do you like them?” Peake asked softly from beside you.
You turned to him and looked at him with awe, “You bought me new headphones?”
Peake smiled softly, “Your good pair broke and I know you’ve been using your backups which are uncomfortable and crap. At least that what you told me. You deserve something nice.”
“You are the sweetest. Seriously,” you leaned over and pressed a kiss to Peake’s cheek. You could have sworn he blushed but you shook off the thought, “I don’t know how I can repay you.”
Peake cleared his throat, “Um, well, maybe by letting me take you to dinner.”
The smile on your face somehow grew, “Deal but only if I get to pay.”
Peake pretended to think for a second before his smile returned in full, “I think we can arrange that.”
Peake & Reader sharing a blanket while editing cause Bruce has Wampa blood and keeps the air on.
“What are you guys doing?” Bruce asked shooting you a confused look as you and Peake huddled under a blanket together waiting for Open Haus to start.
“You have it set to sixty-two degrees in here,” you told him trying to scoot closer to Peake.
“Yeah, and I’m still sweating,” he frowned.
“I’m not,” you complained as a shiver went up your spine.
“Here,” Peake stood for a moment and stripped himself of his jacket and handed it to you.
“You don’t have to do that,” you shook your head though you didn’t fight him as he pushed the jacket into your hands.
“Thanks,” you muttered slipping on the jacket feeling much warmer instantly and as a bonus, the jacket strongly smelled of Peake.
“Better?” he asked as he rewrapped the blanket around the two of you.
You gave him a sweet smile and nodded, “Much.”
#38 w/ Peake?
“A milkshake with two straws? How romantic!” you grinned taking your seat next to Peake at the lunch table.
Your friends laughed as Peake gave you an unamused look, “I don’t really think it counts as romantic if you stick an extra straw in my milkshake.”
That earned a few snickers and you rolled your eyes, “Why won’t you just love me?”
Peake shook his head and let you steal some of his milkshake but was quiet for the rest of lunch.
When you got back to the office he pulled you aside as everyone else went in, “Can we talk for a second?” You raised your eyebrows for him to continue. He sighed, “I get why you make jokes like you did at lunch on camera but why do it at like lunch?”
You shrugged, “I guess it’s just my way of flirting. Maybe one day I’ll get you to flirt back.” You smiled as you could see his jaw drop a little. “See you in there, hot stuff,” you gave him a wink and went in with everyone else.

“I think we’re going to make it,” you hummed softly as you ran a hand up your boyfriend’s arm.
You could see him crack a smile in the dim light provided by the candles on the nightstand. Matt gave a small laugh, “Didn’t know that was up for debate.” He continued to rub circles into your back under your shirt.
“Always is with any couple at the beginning,” you clarified, “We could have been incompatible or totally different people after we started dating. What if we weren't supposed to be more than friends?”
Your boyfriend’s smile just continued to grow, “Y/N, I’ve known you since we were in high school and we’re always gotten along so I say it’s fair to say were compatible at least in some sense. We’ve also seen each other in a handful of relationships so we know we’re pretty much the same dating as not.”
“The same can not be said about some of our partners,” you interjected with a quiet giggle. Matt chuckled along with you.
“And we were always meant to be more than friends,” he concluded.
“Oh, yeah?” you raised an eyebrow, pausing the shapes you were tracing into his bicep. “What makes you say that?”
“Because I’ve loved you since the start. That had to grow into something so natural love for you romantically,” Matt explained.
You were frozen, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“What?” he chuckled.
“You love me?” you asked incredulously.
“Well, yeah,” Matt’s normally calm and light composure seemed to waiver a little.
“You actually love me?” you raised your eyebrows and did your best not to smile.
Matt started to look a little worried, “Of course and if you don’t feel the same. That’s okay. I-”
You cut Matt’s panic with a small kiss.
You pulled back with a big smile, “Good because I love you too.”
You watched him relax before pulling you into another kiss. This one soft still but his eagerness shown through. You pulled away again, both of you all smiles as you relaxed again.
“I think we are going to make it,” Matt teased.
You punched his shoulder softly, “Glad you agree.”

“Matt, where are we going?” you looked around at your surroundings. “We’re going back to the safe house, right? Mission accomplished. Time to go home. Right?”
Matt didn’t answer you and instead held his hand out for your radio. You passed him the walkie and he clicked it on, “We’re safe and we’ll see you guys in a bit.”
With that Matt turned it off completely and continued to drive in silence. You just shook your head and looked out the window. You trusted Matt with your life and he hadn’t led you astray yet so you waited to see where he’d take you.

“You’re hired!” James shouted not moments after you walked into the room.
Bruce shot him a glare, “Please don’t listen to him. He’s kidding.”
“No. I’m not. You’re hired,” James insisted.
Bruce placed a hand on his own face, taking a deep breath in, “You're not even supposed to be here. Out.”
