Sometimes love can feel like drifting through the galaxy and this new single is sure to sweep you up into the unknown. mattVISTA's production on If Light Escapes pulls you into black hole blues while April's ethereal tone tethers you to the track. Working in tandem, they've embodied the falling sensation of questioning love. As the guitar takes you out of the atmosphere, the heavy bass envelops you in the vacuum of space while piano notes drip stars around you. With a natural voice often imitated but never quite duplicated with auto tune, April matches perfectly with the experimental nature of mattVISTA's music. As the first release from their joint EP Lanterns coming March 4th, they spark interest in listeners anxious for what is to come.

“If Light Escapes” is the latest track from DC-based singer/producer duo, April + VISTA, which is aimed “to tell a familiar story of heartbreak and vulnerability from [their] unique perspectives, breaking genre barriers in the process”. We think they do just that with this track. The minimal production, subtle complementing beats and electronic tinkering allow the smooth and sultry vocals shine and tell the story, elevating this track to future r&b status.

Speaking of which, the duo have an upcoming Lanterns EP due out March 31st which will feature this track, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
