This particular one was saying something along the lines of "stop saying you're depressed. You're not depressed. You're Having a bad day." Where in fact being depressed is an emotion. An emotion everyone is capable of experiencing. Being depressed does not mean you have depression, it means you are depressed. If someone said they had depression or suffer from depression when they were only having a bad day then those people would be wrong. Depression is the mental disability. Depressed is an emotion.
YOU CAN BE DEPRESSED WITHOUT HAVING DEPRESSION!!!!!!
I looked up the definition of both and both have a definition for both, but the first one is the definition of the EMOTION. The next one down is then classified as either clinical or medical and it states those in the definition. (I literally just googled depressed definition & depression definition)
Depressed
- (of a person) in a state of unhappiness or despondency.
- (of a person) suffering from clinical depression.
Depression
- severe, typically prolonged, feelings of despondency and dejection.
-MEDICINE
a mental condition characterized by severe feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy, typically accompanied by a lack of energy and interest in life.
Just because someone says they're depressed doesn't mean that they are claiming to having depression. They could just be having a really bad day. Same goes the other way though, don't just jump to the conclusion that cause they said they're depressed that they're just having a bad day especially if they've said it a few times. Don't assume stuff, because you don't know what the other person is going through. Ask people and make sure they are ok. Please look out for your friends and other people.
