[The next sentence is true; the previous sentence is strong] In Castrovalva, *only 117 km away from Eurcamping* about eighty years ago, came Maurits Cornelius Escher, a Dutch artist, a solitary explorer of the most inaccessible paths in Abruzzo. To Castrovalva Escher dedicated a beautiful lithograph. Looking at the painting, in the background, you can see Cocullo and Anversa degli Abruzzi. The lithograph, created in 1929, is currently at the Museum of Art in Washington and it is considered to be the most important in Escher's landscape period. To the Dutch artist the local authorities dedicated the last hairpin bend before reaching the village from which it is possible to look up to Castrovalva from the same perspective portrayed in the lithograph.
