"Hang on," Nora said, stopping just outside of Crescent Moon's front door and pulling her phone out of her back pocket. "Gimme a smile. I'm gonna send this to Angel. He'll lose his mind."

She shot off the picture and an accompanying text — our boy's getting his nipples pierced and there's nothing you can do about it <3 — cackling all the while.

"Okay," she said and put a hand on the door. "You ready for this?"

"Mav!" Sola called out happily, spotting him from across the rooftop. She waved a hand and held out a hand to say 'wait there real quick' before excusing herself from the conversation she was currently in with hurried apologies.

With a quick pit stop at the drinks table for a refresh on her punch and a Coke for Mav, she joined him off to the sidelines with a happy, "hey, you made it!" and handed him his drink before wrapping him hug.

"Remember when I said birthdays should always be celebrated? This is what I meant. When'd you get here?"

Sat across the room from his personal assistant, X is relying on two things to sway the conversation in his favour -- the positive working relationship he and Maverick had built over the last year and the undeniably cuteness of his almost-seven month old that he had held in his lap.

"Thanks for coming, I know you're busy, I just wanted to check in with you, see how you're feeling about the job. Are you enjoying it?"
