The man’s clothing was the first giveaway that something was amiss. This was a battle between his people and the enemy kingdom. Chariots, elephants, spears, and bows, were more commonplace than a ‘modern’ military uniform. It was entirely possible that when he had returned to this battlefield, others had gotten dragged in in some sort of reversal of his summoning to the modern world. At any rate, the man seemed painfully ill-equipped to survive this conflict.
