So I'm reading the mawha I Abdicate My Title As Empress and Who Stole The Empress, and they're definitely in the same vein as The Remarried Empress, probably why Webtoon picked them up but there's some key differences between them and TRE.

Mainly it's the emperor character and the mistress character - No ambiguity here, they want to hate these people.

In IAMTAE, the emperor character is an idiot. He has trauma because I think his mom was murdered by the previous empress. But he lets himself be dictated by the mistress and her family. And they're running the country into the ground.

Seriously, they're being attacked by monsters and all they can think of is getting more money and power, and then using that power to abuse it. Diana Poitier, the mistress character and her family are laughably stupidly evil.

In WSTE, the emperor is straight up an evil brat. Like, there's something human missing in him. He is so insecure and petty. And the mistress is of course, this power hungry schemer who encourages his worst impulses. He's the knife, she's the brains.

It's weird, because in the TRE, despite the fandom's mixed feelings of her, Rasta is a pretty pathetic character. I've said it before, Rashta is a rodent surrounded by sharks and she's not aware that she's drowning. She is everyone else's pawn.

And Sovieshu is not evil but boy you wanna smack him for how he treats the women in his life.

Honestly, the more evil one is Ergi and the ax crazy ones are Navier's brother and that one nobleman who tried to kill an unarmed Rashta.

So yeah, they made it easier to hate the antagonists.
