Retronaut Selects: City Boy - Book Early (1978)

This is one of my favorites stories to tell.

At the time, when I first saw this album, I had never heard of City Boy before.

I recall seeing two of their albums, “Book Early” which was an open copy in shrinkwrap and “The Day The Earth Caught Fire” which was sealed.

I left them. Oddly, the next time I went, they were still there.

I’m something of the person who believes there’s signs in life, certain hints that should be taken. 

So, I stopped playing games. I got both of them.

After doing so, I said the following now iconic quote, “I hope they’re good, because now I’ve got two of their albums.”

When I got home, I spun Book Early for the first time. It was the coolest thing I ever heard and City Boy has been one of my favorite bands ever since.

Married At First Sight Season Two Partners Jono Pitman And Rebecca Pattison Announced The Arrival Of Their New Baby Boy

Jono Pitman and Rebbecca Pattison also announced when they were expecting baby Max on Instagram; the couple posted a selfie with the ultrasound picture of their unborn child. Following the birth of a new baby, even Rebecca took to her Instagram page and posted another picture with the same caption as her partner.

She does as directed, calling the number the next morning and telling the person on the other end that ‘Aither sent her’. Two days later she has a job interview with one of the Sketched Marks HR employees. 

“How do I look?” She asks her soulmates as she gets ready for the interview. 

Max maneuvers his chair a bit closer, “You look amazing as always Crissy.”

Al chimes in from their bed, “You’ll get the job, you’ve been dreaming of it for years now, this was Fate granting your wish.”

Turning so she can see both her wonderful soulmates, she replies, “Thank you. I’ll pick up dinner on the way home.”

“I could cook something,” Max offers, closing what little space is between them and glancing up at her. 

She grins, leaning down to kiss her husband on the cheek, “I know love, I also know you wanted to work on your painting today. No reason to waste your energy cooking when I can get something.”

“She’s right,” Al agrees with a little nod. 

Max chuckles, mock throwing his hands up as if he’s giving in. “You win!” 

Snickering, she kisses his other cheek before straightening and heading over to the bed. 

“Take a nap love, then you can be well rested for when I get home and we can discuss how it goes,” she suggests gently, nuzzling her spouses jaw before feathering a kiss just below the left ear. 

Al’s eyes partly close as they reply, “You’ll do great. I think I will take a nap.”
