All Max wants to do is hold Will close and listen to the soft sound of his breathing once he falls asleep, counting his heartbeats until she slips under too. She wants to wake up next to him in the morning and ask him if her eyes still look like the sky after a thunderstorm.
Maybe she could tell him tomorrow. Maybe she could look at him, the sun streaming through the flimsy hospital curtains, and tell him,
"You are everything I want in a person. And there's a pretty good chance I'm falling in love with you."
The couple no one ever expected finds their way to each other one summer - Will/Max.
