laurie's desperation, the music, kevin's heartbroken breaking voice over tommy, laurie's snap shift into clinical mode realizing something is Wrong with kevin, his flip to anger, laurie leaving again. it's so much and it's so good. i'm doing gifs of this scene (obviously) but had to share this snippet because the voices and music jesus christ i love this show. i've never believed someone wanted their family together as badly as kevin does, aside from sam and dean. but there's a level of despair that i think goes even beyond that. maybe that's just justin theroux.

and this track is so in line with the composed music, i thought it was richter's and kept digging through the score confused why i couldn't find it, ha!

I’m going to post this first, because it’s more eerie if you don’t have the original immediately in mind: Goldfrapp’s “Lovely Head.” It’s an ostensibly pretty piano cover, just the piano, that’s all, but because it’s “Lovely Head,” it just… gets under your skin, with an unsettling gothic-melancholy quality. The phrase that keeps coming to my mind is “It’s not supposed to be like this.” Maybe that’s what the inevitable gothic heroine is thinking, I don’t know. Jane Eyre, Turn of the Screw, Crimson Peak: It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
