The girls took selfies every two millimeters, barely making their way up the steps to the arena. Caedan held her selfie stick up high with the beautiful sunrise of Hasetsu, snowy mountain ranges giving the sun rays way to illuminating an orange-red sky as Kai followed up behind her, smiling away. Both women flashed brilliant smiles, silly faces, and unnecessary poses, the camera clicking along to their movements.
Thomas turned around to see if they followed up. Nope, he sighed. They were still down two flights, just as he expected. He had repeated for them to hurry their asses up over five minutes ago. Into one ear and out the other.
“Ladies,” the teal-haired man called, exasperated. “You both better get up here or I won’t share my Lays with any of your during practice.”
Caddy paused mid-smile and nearly bolted up the stairs when her friend tugged her backwards. Kai frowned knowingly at Caddy, whose mouth was drooling. Already? As usual.
“Don’t be a prick, Tom.” Kai smiled up at him. She began to pull the drooling Caddy up the steps, a little faster than before. “We know you’ll take those chips to the grave if you had to preserve them so.”
Feeling a small smirk curl on his lips, Thomas stuffed his hands into his sweatshirt pockets, rubbing them against the patterned cotton to create friction for his numb hands. “You know it.”
Whining childishly, Caddy threw her head back in a groan, loosening her scarf a bit in the movement. “Toooooooooooom.”
“Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddy.” He repeated back in the same tone.
“Share.” She pouted, her hazel eyes glistening in the morning light. Thomas swallowed.
“We’ll see.”
Kai leaned in to whisper, “He’s lying.” as she jogged up the steps to get her body warmth running faster than it should. Hasetsu could get pretty cold in the winter time. It wasn’t Kai’s first time there, but she remembered visiting the hot springs with her late parents as a child.
Eyelids dimming at the nostalgic memories, Kai was suddenly nudged by an elbow, nearly throwing off her balance. She recovered in time to see Caddy ahead of her by four or five steps, throwing her head back to wink playfully at her.
Rolling her eyes but smiling nonetheless, Kai ran up after Caddy, planning a quick revenge on her friend’s little trick. Thomas had a satisfied look on his face as he nodded and walked up his own flight of stairs slowly.
Little did he know, his nimble girlfriend was quickly catching up, a sneaky grin growing on her face. Unfortunately for Thomas, the man was deep in thought as he lifted leg after leg up each tread. Still walks like an old man, Kai giggled internally.
SMACK!
Arching his back and yelping with a voice a few octaves higher than his normal masculine voice, Thomas had little than five seconds to react to Caddy wildly cackling at her naughty deed and scrambling up the steps to run away from any potential cat-and-mouse chase that could occur.
He stood there for a few moments in pure shock and Kai couldn’t understand why he didn’t do something else besides for freezing up. Okay, she smacked your butt; get over it, dude. It’s not you’re new to anything sexual. Jesus, the other day Kai caught him and her friend rubbing each other out in a closet.
I mean, what is shame to this couple?
Kai caught up to the steps Thomas stood on and stopped to catch her breath. “Hey,” she braced her palms on her knees, gasping for air as she spoke. “You okay, buddy?”
Jolting out of his statue-like state, Thomas turned embarrassingly to Kai, then swiftly turned away from her gaze. Was that...a blush? “It’s nothing.”
Glancing down, he cleared his throat and started up the steps once more, walking with his thighs closer than before. If Kai peered closer, she could see that...oh my. She was right; he was a masochist. Here was Caddy, who tried to brush off that Thomas was nothing but a sadist to Kai last night.
She scoffed. Yeah, some sadist. One butt slap and this guy was already popping boners.
Making her way up the last flight of stairs once more, Kai began to have thoughts. As horny as her friends were, she loved their relationship and how they interacted often with one another. They skated together, ate out (no sexual pun shut up), and wine-and-dined almost on a regular basis. Thomas may be a food hogger, but when it came to spending some moolah on his beloved, limits meant nothing.
Kai rubbed her arm as she tried to recall why this relationship seemed so familiar. Her heart beat faster when the memories and events came flooding in harder than it usually hit her.
Viktor Nikiforov.
They spent no more than two years together, hooking up at the mere age of sixteen with the figure skater. They practiced couple dances for the ISU (International Skating Union) when she first joined. She believed she fell in love with the man as soon as he gave her attention. It was a nice feeling; one she wouldn’t trade for the world.
Post winning medal after medal, both finally dropped out of the Olympics for the second gold in a row and agreed to expand on their current relationship status. They had great chemistry, it was true, but their body heat while skating did more than just provide heat to the couple during competitions, or practice even.
They grew closer with every interaction and Kai didn’t mind the physical affection or sweet words Viktor bestowed on her constantly, as she was used to such adoration by her childhood environment. She returned the affections and one night, they crossed the line.
Suddenly, Kai felt as if they weren’t together for the right reasons. It gnawed at her when he kissed her neck; burned her heart whenever he proclaimed her a goddess; and jolt her into a choked sob as he rocked his hips into hers.
“YO!”
Kai’s thoughts were sliced through like butter when she realized she had no more steps to climb and nearly tripped over air. Catching her balance for the second time that morning, Kai glanced up at the familiar voice who called her so suddenly.
Caddy waved at her through the automatic doors, encouraging her to hurry over to the arena. She was already tied in her skates, with Thomas tying his own in the background. “Come on! Someone’s waiting for you! You’re not gonna keep them waiting, are you?”
Her heart skipped. He said he was on a business trip. He’s back already? Heart in her throat, Kai broke into a small run, barely pausing to let the automatic doors process her presence. She didn’t bother giving Caddy a second glance, her friend’s small smirk growing as she flew past.
Scanning her ID card into a slot, Kai ran into the locker room when she saw his hair. Skidding to a stop, the woman let her breath leave her as she murmured his name softly.
“Aaron.”
He lifted his head from his phone. Ears perking up at his title, the man turned, smiling expectantly. His glasses brimmed over his nose, giving his sharp jaw a shadowed look. One side of his amber hair was pulled back into a small ponytail while leaving the rest of his wavy locks down around his face frame like a crown. Those bright eyes twinkled at her when they contrasted with his scarlet vest. Suit and tie...Kai loved her men like that.
Shoving his glasses higher up his nose bridge, he spoke with that velvety innocence of his, throwing Kai into a soft shudder. “Hello, Adjana.”
