Humans are wired for a touch of masochism which is why we're here on Turglr Dotcom
tumblr is that aggressive, occasionally salty licorice i can never tell if i actually enjoy but for whatever reason will periodically eat enough to make my heart race

Anyway a lot of different scotches just taste good, I don't get buzzed bc they're after dinner drinks for me I just enjoy the taste and the feel of it
scotch is another one that people get extremely upset about! like, yes, sometimes it does taste like a campfire, that’s not a bad thing. it’s neat that this ancient ‘old wet grain in a big bucket’ fermentation method wound up so complex. i get that alcohol can override the other notes for people, but it’s essentially the same chemistry as artificial flavorings, the flavor compounds are real (and delicious! i like the ones that smell like chocolate)

That's Susie Myerson
!!!! Of course! She fits the bill! And by the same writer who created Luke Danes too!

Margaret Houlihan was hyper competent at her job (like... extremely so) but a bit wonderfully disastrous in other ways?
shamefully, i am not familiar with Margaret Houlihan! She does look awesome and competent and it does make me want to watch MASH!

shaw? dex parios? honestly maybe buffy? oh & hermione! oh and like. every woman in voyager p much
Hmmm... I mean Shaw is grumpy but I don’t think Shaw rants enough to fit the mold. Dex might be it, although I don’t remember if she ranted a whole lot? Which reminds me to catch up to the show! Buffy... Not grumpy enough and when she is, she wasn’t really allowed to be grumpy or mad (at her friends) for long I think, Hermione is the same I think. OMG. B’Elenna fits the bill!
Mostly the mold of a Luke Danes is Tired and Grumpy and Rants a LOT (because he cares):
Or the extreme of Nicholas J Miller who is Tired and Grumpy, rants a lot, AND IS A DISASTER
Susie Myerson though!
Yes!
Oh, yeah, they also don’t like going out to parties and meeting new people.
8, 15, 19 for the thing?
okay here we go! sorry this took basically forever! Thanks for asking :D
8. what musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?
ahhhh... basically there is one answer to this and it is Queen. I’m a bit musically useless? It takes a lot for me to “connect” to music, and I find a lot of music either boring or annoying, but Queen hits a sweet spot of engaging, entertaining and impressive for me. I think it’s something about how a lot of their music is emotionally over-the-top while still being A-grade quality and complexity. Uh. Who knows.
15. five most influential books over your lifetime.
1. Patrick Moore’s The Universe for Under Tens. Really got me interested in science and space and gave me a solid understanding for those topics before we got to them in school, which made them even more enjoyable.2. Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, which we are pretending is one enormous book for the purposes of it not taking up most of this list.3. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which was another introduction to the wonderful world of satire and the clever things you can do with words, characters, and expectations.4. Neil Gaiman’s Sandman (again, let’s pretend this is all one book and not, for example, a comic book series...) This is dear to me for lots of personal reasons, but also because several story points including the ending blew my tiny teenage mind. Basically Neil Gaiman taught baby stackcats to think outside the box.5. Becky Chamber’s Wayfarers series (again...) because it’s important to remember that fiction doesn’t have to be smart and edgy and dangerous to be good and important. Her universe isn’t saccharine sweet, there are dangers and hardships to be faced, but she reminds us that if we face them together, we are stronger. She teaches us to be good and kind and thoughtful and non-judgemental. People who dismiss these books for not having enough plot or action are sorely missing the point.
19. which Harry Potter house would you be in? or are you a muggle?
I’m a Hufflepuff. Not the bravest or the smartest, but I get there in the end through sheer effort.
Quarantine meme
@maximumscherzer opened this up to whoever and I’m a whoever so here we go~
when was the last time you left your home? - last time we went to the post office since I could just stay in the car the whole time
what was the last thing you bought? - groceries
is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed? - like my high tolerance for negative temperatures, I apparently have a high tolerance for quarantine provided I have stuff to do at home.
who are you spending quarantine with? - my parents
do you have pets to keep you company? - no
what are your current responsibilities? - random chores along the house, continuing to write my novel
do you have a room to yourself? - sort of but if I close the door it gets too stuffy so it’s me and whatever’s going on in the hallway
are you exercising? - I try to stick to my normal exercise schedule
town, country, city? - I live in a part of GA where I can see a confederate Punisher bumper sticker at our local Aldi.
how’s your toilet paper supply? - it’s reasonable
what’s the worst thing that you had to cancel? - I had nothing to cancel because I had no plans. I live a pretty boring quiet life. I miss going to the grocery store
what’s the best thing you’ve had to cancel? - Nothing really. Again, I had no plans.
who do you miss the most? - I always miss my siblings. Won’t surprise me if we don’t see each other face to face until there’s a vaccine
do you have any new hobbies? - Not really. Had to scale some of my usual hobbies back a bit actually like baking
what are you watching the most? - Mostly spring anime though I think most will go on hiatus before this is over. Should really get back to marathoning ES21 really
are you still going to work? - I’ve been unemployed for a while due to health problems and the fact I can’t drive,. This is not helping
what are you out of? - I’m low on vitamins and out of salad dressing
have you made any changes to your hair during quarantine? - I cleaned up my layers and shortened the longest lengths. It looks kind of cute

maximumscherzer replied to your post “saw a post going around and like….you know introversion doesn’t mean...”
This is true but it's also kind of nice not feeling pressured & shamed into social obligations. Like this sucks for extroverts & isn't particularly healthy for introverts either but. I'm with veradune, these last few days have been a relief from working in an office literally built for "collaboration" ie constant socializing.
yeah upon reflection my workplace socialization is much more relaxed and less performative than in an office environment, and as much as i need recoup time on the weekends it like..falls in line with my natual need/want for community and existing as myself around other people in a way that the average white-collar job probably wouldn’t

They are the uncomfortable and unsexy.
litcherally even a simple google proves my point
they amplify the GAMS them CALVES they are prone to being in disarray like it’s a very specific, fussy, borderline unsexy hot but like if a dude wanted to break my door down like the Hawaiian Punch man and slouch his socks towards Bethlehem with me like...i would not say no
