Something something Q!Bad is the only person who’s stayed constant in Maxo’s life. Dan’s dead in a ditch somewhere, his son is dead because of him, and Sofia is gone for who knows how long until they can fix her. Even if it was for the ruse Cellbit kept his daughter from him, Foolish has always been weirdly pro federation, and Baghera doesn’t fully trust him. And through all of that Bad’s been there for him. Theory crafting and planning and building and goofing off and trying to scam him a bit. Giving Maxo the dandelion his son had given Bad, the symbol of his son’s last act, and Bad gave it to him because he knew how much Maxo missed Trumpet. Making Maxo a care package with Dapper and Pomme. Bad’s always been a constant source of companionship and laughs and comfort and a reminder of everything he still has left outside of grief.

maxo being corrupted by bbh's influence is from the circumstances of a man who's lost everything with nothing left to lose. so what if he goes down this path it can't get any worse. vs etoiles's corruption circumstances being that he has everything and cannot stand a loss and not going down this path to defend bbh means potentially losing his dear friend (either his life or his relationship) ..... like a man already in the pit shaking hands with a devil vs a man slowly moving his moral goalposts to shake the devil's hand not even realizing he's walking down a deep dark path to begin with
