It was hard to believe that it had been a year since he had left his home and Arcadia Bay to start a new life. Time really did fly, didn’t?
After starting college and moving in with his now boyfriend Nathan, Warren barely had time to catch up with any of his friends in person. He often took several credit hours and even enrolled during the summer. Probably not the wisest idea, but he was determined to finish his program as soon as possible.
Warren had kept with several of his Blackwell buddies on social media. He often had movie and game nights with Brooke and Alyssa via video chat. He has been in contact with Max too, however she often kept their chats pretty short. He only assumed it was because she was busy with school too.
When Max purpose the idea meeting up for Spring Break, Warren was thrilled. Nathan was going to fly out to New York to see Victoria, so he was glad he wasn’t going to spend the break alone in their apartment.
When the day came, Warren anxious paced the apartment, making sure everything looked presentable. Not that Max would care nor was Nathan a slob, but he didn’t want to leave out anything embarrassing.
Warren’s appearance had changed a lot too. Taller, thinner, hair shorter, glasses, and even had a light five o clock shadow. She pondered if he should probably shave. His style of dress changed a bit too; Nathan’s influence obviously.
Warren finally took a seat on the coach, anxiously checking his phone for her to text him when she was close.

He’s brought out of his bubble -- eyes locked in on his phone’s screen -- by a bristling sensation, something settling on his head. He turns his head left and right, then crane’s his neck to look behind.
“Max--?” A hand comes up to feel around on top of his head, and he feels something soft. He pinches the thin thing between finger and thumb -- a petal? ... Ah. “Uh, thanks? Thanks.”

Of course Max had fallen asleep on him. She may have been a willing participant to his dark room photography now, but that didn’t mean her body was willing to take all he dosed her with. Whether his subjects were willing or not, Mark needed to have complete control over every aspect of his niche photography. The expressions weren’t pure if a model was fully conscious. And Max was a better photographer than model. When she was conscious of what he was doing, she became self-conscious.
He needed all those doubts and insecurities to be free from his art.
So he’d given her a little too much. It wasn’t enough to kill her, no. He enjoyed playing with his latest accomplice as much as he enjoyed the power he had over her life. One more dose probably would kill her. To know he had that kind of power made him feel like a god among men. Not that he believed in that bullshit. But having someone as devoted as Max... Well, that was probably the closest he could get to a religious experience.
The girl was totally out cold from the multiple doses, so he had to monitor her. Mark had moved her from the backdrop and onto the couch. Her head rested in his lap while she slept her drug induced sleep. Mindlessly, he toyed with her short brown locks of hair. He wasn’t one for tender moments, but he figured she’d earned this for performing so admirably. Besides, she needed to think he loved her if this game was to continue.
With how much Nathan had fucked up, it was time for a new protégé of sorts. Soon the old would be dead and the new would take his place.
