On May 8, 1902, Mount Pelée erupted catastrophically, generating a deadly pyroclastic flow that raced down its slopes and obliterated the city of Saint-Pierre within minutes. The eruption left nearly the entire population of the city dead, with estimated fatalities around 28,000–30,000, making it one of the deadliest volcanic disasters of the 20th century. Only a handful of survivors were documented. 
Why it matters biblically
This event reflects fearful sights and great calamities consistent with biblical descriptions of widespread suffering in the last days where masses of people are caught in sudden, devastating natural events. Although not caused by human conflict, the immense loss of life in a single moment aligns with scriptural warnings of dramatic signs and disasters.
