The more I learn about this family, the more I love and admire them.
I was recently watching a documentary about Louisa May Alcott, and found out she loved owls! Her sister, May Alcott, even painted her this picture of one. It hung over Louisa’s fireplace for years. I thought that was adorable, and it’s such a beautiful picture.
The real-life model for Louisa May Alcott’s Amy March was a pioneering champion of women artists.
When I thought I couldn’t love Amy March more, I found this piece of writing about her real life counterpart, May Alcott.

May Alcott Nieriker was Louisa May Alcott's younger sister and the real-life inspiration for Amy March. May was a praised artist who lived most of her life in France. She was married to a young Belgian banker called Ernest Nieriker. May Alcott was a great artist and a very interesting woman. Amy March is one of those literal characters who people either love or hate. Louisa May Alcott's younger sister however was a force to be reconciled.
