I think the difference is the size, and people usually use snapchat icons for 'snapchat' threads and prefer larger icons because they are clearer possibly? idk but i used them in an rp before because that's what a good number of the starters were

I still don’t get it lol like what’ the point of making them like 250px?? I thought everyone loved their 40x40 icons and then they’re just like! surprise!!! gonna fake you out with a giant icon (and I mean is it even an icon once it gets over 150? what’s the consensus on that??) i’m also really confused as to why “snapchat threads” are a thing bc??????do people really just talk ove rsnapchat and like fifty selfies????????? bc if anyone ever replies to my snap I’m just like??? what did I even say?? maybe i’m using snapchat wrong lol
