what was the last book you read and what are your thoughts on it?

Fuck sorry Maya this is months old my asks get buried really quickly 😭😭 I appreciate you for sending me fun asks even though I sometimes take forever to answer them.

I’m not sure if this counts since I haven’t quite finished it, but I’m reading Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese after having enjoyed(?) the movie. I have to thank you for inadvertently pushing me to finally watch it because I like it a lot and I’m liking the book a lot too. It’s definitely a tough read at times especially because It hits very close to home for me in a very literal sense lol (I had to pause the movie at several points because I recognized the locations they were filming and got excited) but it’s also just a very good book. It was a fun exercise as a learning Anishinaabemowin speaker to try and translate the non-English words before the book does. I have plenty I could say about the actual content of the story and writing but I’m afraid it’s nothing that hasn’t been said already. It’s good. It made me cry. I’d highly recommend it to just about anyone so long as you can stomach the subject matter, which I think more people should try to, because at the end of the day some of us don’t have the luxury of not thinking about these things, you know?

I'm in psych major with a focus on developmental psychology, and one of the more basic things we learned is that basically, babies are supposed to see people emote, especially express positive emotions at the sight of them, be visibly friendly, otherwise they're not really gonna be okay. I won't get into details here, that's the gist of it.

and it comes naturally to most parents, because they Are kind of just happy to see their baby, it's just that manfred is kind of a grump and most of the smiling he does is when his enemies are defeated. do you think he had to practice? :'D

how do you feel about people in the fandom that dislike most parts of ace attorney/heavily criticize it but stay for one or two characters?

I’m not one to police the ways that people like to engage with media. I don’t really care that much if you’re only here for a couple characters like whatever I hope you’re having fun. That being said: most of these people do kind of annoy the shit out of me on a personal level

A good artist, writer and friend. I admire the way you try to be there for others even when you got ur own shit going on. You always seem to be trying to better yourself (sometimes to your own detriment. You rlly need to cut yourself some slack) and it’s clear that you put a lot of effort into listening to and learning from the people around you. Even if you second guess yourself so much of what you create is personal/sincere in a way I find refreshing and inspiring. You really need to learn to take up space without apologizing tho. Be more selfish asshole you deserve it 🫵

what are some of your favorite movies? ^^

Legally Blonde, Moonlight, Pacific Rim, The Shawshank Redemption, Pride and Prejudice, Ghost in The Shell, The Lost Boys, But I’m a Cheerleader, Tokyo Godfathers, A Silent Voice, Cutie Honey (2004), Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Princess Mononoke, Ace Attorney 2012, Everything Everywhere All At Once. Obviously Sinners was an instant fave. I also watched Indian horse for the first time a couple months back (Because of you, actually) and it was sad but I really liked it. It hit so close to home for me that it was almost comforting to watch lol. Emphasis on almost. I guess it was just kind of nice to have a story set on the land where I grew up and focusing on a culture so similar to my own. I don’t see that very often. There was a point where I just had to pause the movie and squint at the background like I swear I recognize that highway sign…
