some days, the streets of blüdhaven don’t feel as freeing as they did when dick was younger.
back when he just left gotham, became his own hero. dick thinks the streets haven’t changed but maybe he did. maybe all the things he’s done and seen happening (and allowed to happen) have changed him.
how when the rain comes down like a flood, the lights seem a little dimmer and he freezes a little more, shaking for reasons that aren’t the cold.
his thoughts flash back to that night, the nightmarish bang and the sound of pouring rain and he’s powerless to do anything but try to distract himself.
he starts drinking a little on those nights.
