Danika Reyes & Lola Lombardi Lore
because yes, they have lore. and are VERY close
They met before Bullworth became “Bullworth”
Like young young.
Before cliques mattered.
Before football games and cigarettes and reputations.
Their families weren’t exactly friends, but Bullworth is small enough that kids orbit each other whether they want to or not.
Lola was loud immediately.
Tiny little thing with scraped knees, tangled hair, talking too much and touching everything she wasn’t supposed to.
Danika?
Mean little stare. Quiet. Suspicious of everybody.
Lola decided within approximately twenty minutes:
“That one. I want that one.”
Dani absolutely did not agree.
They grew up orbiting each other.
Not in the same neighborhood exactly, but close enough that their lives kept overlapping:
school events
town festivals
corner stores
parents recognizing each other vaguely
seeing each other over and over and over again
Little Bullworth/New Coventry kid ecosystem type beat.
Childhood dynamic
They were COMPLETE opposites immediately.
Little Dani:
mean-faced little gremlin child
scraped knees constantly
got into fights with boys twice her size
hated dresses
hated being told what to do
wandered off constantly
Little Lola:
loud
dramatic
socially fearless
wanted attention at all times
cried loudly
manipulated adults with frightening ease
And somehow?
They clicked instantly.
Why Lola liked Dani
Because Dani never treated her delicately.
Everyone else either:
spoiled Lola
got annoyed by Lola
or let her get away with everything
But Dani?
Dani would literally go:
“You’re being annoying.”
And Lola LOVED that.
Because it felt honest.
Why Dani liked Lola
Because Lola made everything less heavy.
Dani was always serious even as a kid.
Not sad. Not miserable.
Just… intense.
And Lola could make her laugh easier than almost anybody.
Even now.
Especially now.
The “us against everyone” ara
When they were younger they got in trouble CONSTANTLY.
Not malicious trouble.
Just:
sneaking into places
stealing candy
fighting kids
talking back to adults
wandering around town unsupervised
They absolutely had the vibe of:
one instigates
the other escalates
Example energy:
Lola:
“Watch this.”
Dani:
“This is a bad idea.”
Lola:
“You’re helping though.”
Dani:
“…Yeah.”
Middle school changed them
This is where things got more complicated.
Because they started developing into VERY different people socially.
Lola:
became prettier
more attention from boys
learned how much influence beauty gave her
started leaning into it
Dani:
became rougher
more defensive
less emotionally expressive
more intimidating
And for the first time?
People started treating them differently.
The big difference between them
Lola learned:
attention = safety
Dani learned:
strength = safety
That changes EVERYTHING about how they move through the world.
Their first major fight
Probably around 13-14.
And it was BAD.
Because Lola flirted with someone dangerous for attention. Dani called her stupid for it. Lola accused Dani of acting superior. Dani said:
“I’m trying to stop you from getting hurt.”
Lola replied:
“You think everyone’s weak except you.”
That one stuck.
They stopped talking for months.
Why they reconnected
Simple:
Nobody else understood them the same way.
Even when they fought, even when they drifted—
they always came back.
Because:
Lola doesn’t scare Dani away
Dani doesn’t abandon Lola for being “too much”
That matters.
A LOT.
Their dynamic now
By Bullworth age?
They know each other almost TOO well.
Lola can tell:
when Dani’s actually angry
when she’s bluffing
when she’s upset pretending not to be
Dani can tell:
when Lola’s lying
when she wants attention
when she’s genuinely hurting
Which means they can hurt EACH OTHER very precisely too.
And sometimes they do.
The unspoken rule
Nobody else gets to disrespect the other one.
THEY can insult each other.
But if someone else does it?
Immediate problem.
Example:
Prep:
“Lola’s such a slut.”
Dani:
“Say it again.”
OR—
Someone calls Dani psycho.
Lola immediately:
“Careful. She bites.”
Why Their friendship lasts
Because underneath all the chaos:
they both know the ugliest versions of each other.
And stayed anyway.
Lola has seen:
Dani cry
Dani panic
Dani lose control
Dani scared
Dani has seen:
Lola manipulated
Lola insecure
Lola humiliated
Lola genuinely heartbroken
That kind of history changes a friendship permanently.
Their actual energy
They’re basically:
cigarette smoke in parking lots
laughing during serious situations
arguing while defending each other
calling each other names affectionately
emotional honesty hidden under insults
“you’re awful” / “yeah but you love me”
Dani’s REAL opinion on Lola
She’d never say this out loud.
But genuinely?
Dani thinks Lola deserves better than the way people treat her.
Even if Lola self-destructs sometimes. Even if she makes terrible choices.
Dani sees the person underneath all the performance.
And she protects that version of Lola viciously.
The weird tension thing
Now LISTEN—
Whether romantic or platonic, they absolutely have:
weird intensity
emotional possessiveness
“you’re ruining my life” energy
Very:
“Nobody else gets on my nerves like you.”
They’ll insult each other for hours then immediately:
share food
sit together
defend each other in fights
I like this pairing a bit too much.. I have plans. Plans only I KNOW..
