Arrival of the Birds is a song that’s filled with whimsy and discovery. It also sounds very thoughtful underneath. All these elements paint a mental picture of something like a montage of Amon in his lab (working on something good and pleasant for a change).

13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color? annnd D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

hanami would say that she looks best in dark colors: black, obviously, which makes up most of her day-to-day wear both because it’s easy to clean and because she’s perpetually stuck in her pre-teen emo phase; she also wears a lot of dark red, and you might see the odd deep forest green or navy blue. she can also be convinced to wear brighter red (dalamud red in-game), which is her family color. she does actually look good in all of those, but she also looks really good in pastels, specifically pink, which she won’t wear given the choice. (she does not always get the choice.) she doesn’t actually hate it, but she’s kind of over it--she dyed her hair pink for like, almost twenty years, which resulted in her gladiator costume also being mostly pink, which then cascaded into the more functional armor she commissioned when she joined the scions also coming back in all pastels, because everyone just assumed that’s what she preferred. she still keeps pink highlights on the ends of her hair for the nostalgia (it’s a family tradition; her mothers and all her siblings also dye their hair different colors) but she’d never go back to wearing that much pink. 

as far as changing her appearance--aside from the hairstyle and color updates, i have done some minor tweaks since i first made her in the character creator. for some reason i originally gave her really dark magenta limbal rings, which was just...not cute, and i switched them to blue as soon as i unlocked the aesthetician. she originally had very bright pink lipstick, but that changed to her current dark red around the time i got her to 3.0. her skin tone also used to be lighter, but when i realized how badly the in-game lighting washed her out i darkened it. ironically, when i first made her i was sure i was going to get tired of her Bright Ass Face Paint, but it grew on me really fast and now it’s such a staple of her appearance that she looks strange without it.

31. what do they do when they’re away from each other? - for the ask meme! Any pairing you'd like to answer for

generally, work a lot. aymeric “i’m recovering from a gut wound but let me just come back to the office really i’m fine” borel is a noted workaholic, and hanami’s status as the warrior of light means that if she stands still long enough to get caught in some do-gooder’s crosshairs she’ll inevitably get dragged into some variety of nonsense. (handeloup still owes her for getting the mogmenders off the ground, and only half because she had to deal with the moogles; the other half was having to deal with sidguru when he heard why she’d been running around the churning mists.)

as far as things they do for each other...hanami writes in her journal. admittedly, she does that anyway, but entries for herself are more list format, “i did abc today, tomorrow i need to do efg, at some point remember to follow up on xyz.” sort of like a...an especially utilitarian bullet journal is the best description i can think of? if it’s not directly related to something she’s working on, she generally doesn’t make note of it. lately, though, if she’s started writing reminders of stories to tell aymeric, or especially dumb jokes she hears that she thinks he’d get a kick out of, or new foods to either go back and buy or try to figure out how to make. she doesn’t often reference the physical lists again, but the act of writing it down makes her more likely to recall it later.

since hanami’s journal functions as her mental version of the to-do whiteboard on the fridge, she gave aymeric blanket permission to read it ages ago; she’s not the kind of person to write down anything she wants kept even somewhat secret in the first place. he still doesn’t read it (he thinks it’s invasive, regardless of how dry the contents are), but he does write letters for her to find later and sticks them inside the covers if he knows she’s leaving for an extended period of time. they’re generally short, both because hanami can’t read ishgardian or eorzean common very well and because he’s also not prone to writing down anything very personal, so they tend to be more along the lines of, “when you get back, we should go [visit tailfeather/try this new restaurant/what-have-you].” nothing effusive, but it gives her something to look forward to.
