Maykia’s Story- The Egyptian Tale
Born to a group of dancers during the Mycenaean civilization, Maykia would come across twin demigods, Syrina and Markos Thanos, in Athens when she was thirteen years old. Though harsh to her at first, they did try to provide worldly advice to prepare her for the cold reality of life itself which she scoffed at til that night. She was brutally assaulted and learned that her so-called father was truly in fact, her master, and her suffering began til she eventually landed in Egypt; being a dancer for none other than Pharaoh Kufu.
One night, chaos ensued. Two large cats, one leopard and the other a jaguar, were caught on the palace premises. A thief and murderer had entered the palace, but during the chaos in trying to capture said thief, the leopard was injured by a guard which resulted in the jaguar to go on a killing spree; sparing only one guard and Maykia herself.
Believed to be a curse from the Gods themselves, Maykia is to be put to death but she is saved by Neith who comes to the Pharaoh in a dream. Neith commands the Pharaoh to spare Maykia’s life and give her to a traveling caravan where she will trouble the palace and kingdom no more. Doing as commanded, Maykia is given to the caravan that would become the present day Cirque de Nightmares.
Much to everyone’s surprise, the large cats who had caused a ruckus on the night the thief had entered the palace were captured and part of the caravan. From here on out, Maykia was at the mercy of the four rulers of the caravan but she was given a job: to care for the large cats and see to it that she did not get eaten. Unknown to her, the two cats were none other than the twins she met at the docks back in Athens all those years ago!
Maykia would earn the trust of the leopard (Markos) whom she named Crimson and would was a total of nine years before she learned the truth of her large cats, when Markos revealed himself as Sekhmet’s son in defending her from the leader of the caravan’s final assault on her. Though Maykia didn’t understand it at the time, she later realized that her cats were none other than demigods who were born of blod and sand; fulfilling a prophecy to strike down Zeus and bring forth the true King of the Grecian Gods.
Alas, when Maykia was about seven-eight months in her pregnancy, she was killed by raiders while both Markos and Syrina were out hunting for the caravan. Markos would later learn that night after burning her body that it was none other than the caravan’s leader who ordered for the death of Maykia and their unborn child; a plot devised by Zeus in order to kill the twins.
