1. my tomato plants started putting out tomatoes. they are still small and green but soon!!

2. breakfast! @soymimikyu shared bread with me so i sent a picture when i was eating it. (scrambled eggs with broccoli, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese)

3. aquarium! went to the zoo with friends and tiny baby! most of the pictures were of tiny baby but i am not sharing those on tumblr.

4. my hand after i accidentally punched the wall while rock climbing. i think my phone auto adjusted the color to make the bruising significantly less purple, it was much more impressive in person! luckily it was not too bad though and between the ibuprofen and and ice pack it was mostly better by the next morning. (bonus holo taco unicorn skin nail-polish topper)

zucchini has escaped containment. did some pruning so the eggplant wasn’t literally engulfed by it anymore but… idk i’ve never grown zucchini before and i was not prepared for this.

hand for scale. it’s fuckin huge.

tomatoes are in a separate bed doing their tomato thing. producing a satisfying amount of tomatoes that i’ve been able to share with a bunch of friends but the plants are a bit scraggly and not photogenic. (they’re the heirloom variety that just keep growing so the leaves are dying at the bottom while the top half keeps growing.)

basil is sad. did not realize how much water things growing in giant terracotta pots need during a heat wave and i think it got permanently stunted quite early on.

oh no. i finished it’s not a cult and i feel bereft. i suppose i’ll be listening to it on audiobook sometime soon. it’s a hard book to have particularly clear thoughts about the first time through, but, i think, most importantly it is both messy and precisely crafted all at once, and that’s beautiful.

my accidental squashes! if i had grown them on purpose i would probably be disappointed that i only got two from two whole plants, but the squash blossoms and vines looked lovely all summer and i did not water my garden even close to enough during the wild lack of rain we had all august so i’m going to call it a success. i bought a bunch of seeds i can direct sow on purpose next year so that should be fun!

the thing about adaptations is that it is never the problem that they made changes from the source material, it is always that they did not continue to commit to telling the story they started telling.
