For your consideration: baby!Jack in a fluffy bumblebee outfit babbling as Cas buys honey at the market
i am CONSIDERING. his.....his little bee🥺🐝
also. for your consideration this post
Happy birthday!!! 🎉🎂🎁
Thank you!!!!! 🥰
I'm now halfway through DtA Book 1 and on the one hand it's getting me to go on walks each day to listen to the podfic because I want to know what happens but also I was out in public when Dean and Cas got drunk and Cas was petting Dean's head and I know from memes that this is a slowburn and I already can't take it!
oh my goddd yeah. yeah. cas running his fingers through dean’s hair killed meee and there’s still over two books before anything ever happens. it’s borderline painful. good luck!
Which of the foxes do you reckon can cook/bake from like Could Work In A Restaurant to like Cannot Even Get Anything Hot Enough To Burn It?
this took me a hot second to answer im sorry but here are my thoughts on foxes in the kitchen !!
i 100% believe that andrew is a good cook but he pretends he isnt bc he knows it gets on kevin’s nerves
like he could easily cook himself a healthy but yummy meal but instead he will sit in front of kevin and see how fast he can devour this container of ice cream
i also believe that the last time aaron tried to cook a meal in the dorms, the fire alarms went off and the entire building had to evacuate all bc he wanted hot pockets at 3am
dan and matt are pretty good cooks thanks to lessons they’ve been getting from abby every time they visit her
allison can make basic things as long as she has a recipe in front of her and someone (renee) there to make sure she’s using the right stuff
renee is more into baking than she is cooking
sometimes after their sparring sessions, her and andrew will go back to his dorm and bake something together
nicky is also a really good cook, especially since he took care of the twins and had to keep them fed and such
he’s roped the monsters into attending a weekly “family dinner” where he’ll cook everyone a nice big meal
it’s also turned into “let’s find out what kind of foods neil enjoys bc he never had the liberty of trying a variety of food while on the run”
neil has been banned from every single kitchen ever
that boy is not allowed within fifty feet of any kitchen appliance bc it will end it hell
(this rule was created by kevin after neil broke the window in their dorm while trying to use an electric mixer)
due to his time in the nest, kevin is really strict with his diet, so he taught himself how to cook once he got to palmetto
he finds staying healthy a lot easier when he makes the food himself bc he knows exactly what goes into it
however, after spending so much time with the foxes, he’s slowly branching out and trying other things that before would have made him cringe

I’ve been told that fields of corn in the midwestern US are very scary. I don’t know, I’ve never been there or seen them. But they are said to be tall and interminable and that at night when the sky is clear they whisper.
this is a story about One of the Two Reasons I am Frightened Of Corn:
you may have heard the stories of colonialism in north america. the whitewashed ~pilgrims came here seeking religious tolerance and were very nice to the natives, actually, see: thanksgiving~ and the much more realistic truth that the european settlers not only committed genocide and stole land, but also ridiculed certain indigenous practices for which we continue to pay the price. (you may have heard about the forest fires).
the settlers did not follow the farming processes carefully perfected by indigenous farmers either.
fucking corn, man
crop rotation is good, actually. you can’t just grow a vast quantity of corn in one spot indefinitely. well, you can, probably, but you will pay for it
indigenous tribes from all over north and mesoamerica would swap the corn out for other crops like squash and legumes. they would also treat their grain with lime in a process we call nixtamalization (from Nahuatl; the word tamale also comes from this!!)
pre treating the corn (maize) this way made it more nutritious, tastier, and made it possible to make tortillas and tamales!!
the settlers did not do this. they thought it was just meaningless ritual.
fun fact: if you eat too much corn and very little else by the way of proper nutrients like Beans and Squash; if you eat mostly corn that hasn’t been through nixtamalization, you can literally DIE.
you get niacin (vitamin B3) deficiency which sounds pretty harmless, right? what’s one vitamin?
PELLAGRA
(I will refrain from adding pictures because they are kind of gross, though I think it’s cool and interesting)
this is the way I remember the effects of niacin deficiency: the four Ds
Diarrhea
Dermatitis
Dementia
D E A T H
in the 20th century there was a huge pellagra epidemic that killed over 100,000 people in the US. and it is not an infectious disease. (you might call it a pandemic, because technically when columbus and his ilk took maize back to europe they sure as fuck didn’t tell anybody about nixtamalization, so spain, france, portugal, and italy also suffered.)
send me a 🌻 and i will tell you a random medical fact or something else altogether!
mayonnaisetoffees replied to your post “drawing nsfw beaujester even though tumblr’s rules mean I can’t post...”
But you CAN post on AO3 and share the link here
oh what? that’s a thing?
Your rant in the tags about how stuff like superwholock died out because it was cool to bully kids for a while is just so accurate. I remember becoming ashamed of watching the shows, even though it was with a critical eye, but I enjoyed them and was made to feel wrong for that. It's only recently I've got back into them and realised that yeah it was cringey but the abuse some people gave teenagers about it was disgusting. End of my add on rant.
tbh making fun of kids online is/was nothing new, it was just the one time on tumblr I remember it ever being INCREDIBLY ‘mainstream’ to harass and make fun of kids just for engaging in fandom and liking something. Kids are going to be a bit ““cringey”” online engaging in fandom, but the majority of it was harmless.
How dare you be a kid and enjoy something without being super critical of the thing and doing some dumb shit on tumblr.
