Lee, who died Tuesday morning at age 65, fostered a city where entrepreneurs from around the world dreamed to start their businesses. Though that influx of wealth has come with its own issues — crowded streets, steep housing prices, pervasive homelessness — Lee strived to balance his role as an advocate for the city’s burgeoning industry with his background as a community activist. As news broke of Lee’s death early Tuesday morning, the city’s entrepreneurs and investors were quick to mourn the loss. “He believed deeply in building a thriving future for San Francisco and was instrumental to the growth of the tech industry,” San Francisco Citizens Initiative for Technology and Innovation, a nonprofit also known as sf.citi that advocates for the technology community in the Bay Area, said in a statement. “With deep gratitude, we thank Mayor Lee for believing in our work and for making San Francisco the capital of innovation.” _____________ #sanfrancisco #sf #mayoredlee #california (em San Francisco City Hall)
