January 14, 2026 - Mayotte Drongo (Dicrurus waldenii) These drongos are found in forests on the island of Mayotte off the east coast of Africa. Hunting from perches, they feed mainly on insects but may also eat small lizards. Pairs build cup-shaped nests from woven plant fibers. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks. They are classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN due to habitat loss and degradation in their small range.
