Maze: Hey, Summer? Yeah, this is Maze. I was wondering if you’d be free to talk sometime soon.
Nimbus: She’s here and we’re friends now, but obviously she won’t be here forever. I’m just helping her get back on her feet. Otherwise, I’m just the fifth wheel again between all of you guys, just like always.
Maze: Aw, come on, Nim. You’ll find your person.
Nimbus: I guess. Whatever. Go make your phone call and please don’t let me run into them again, if you can help it.
Nimbus: You’re a little bit ridiculous.
Maze: Not ridiculous, just care about getting my old friends back. Besides - maybe if I apologize for leading Summer on soon, which I didn’t even realize I was doing, Summer and Basil will figure themselves out and end up together sooner rather than later, since they’re so fond of each other’s company all of a sudden.
Nimbus: And leave me as the odd one out again, per usual? Sure.
Maze: Oh, come on. Not anymore, right? You have Athena.
Nimbus: They seemed perfectly fine with eachother’s company, actually. They were hanging out; Basil was pushing Summer on the swing. They were laughing and having a grand old time. You would’ve never been able to guess they weren’t close when we were kids.
Maze: Hm. I’m glad for them. I almost wonder if we could be close again.
Nimbus: And you didn’t tell me they’d be there when you saw me get my stuff together to go to the park for some reading and fresh air?
Maze: Truthfully, I hoped maybe you’d run into them. It’d do you some good to talk, wouldn’t it?
Nimbus: Don’t you have some talking to do as well? Not like you’ve exactly been chummy around Summer, either.
Maze: No, but the fact that they invited me has told me I’ve got a phone call to make and a conversation to schedule with Summer, I’d think. I’ve been talking about it with Primrose and she thinks so, too. Don’t you think you’d like to stop avoiding them eventually?
Nimbus: You’ll never believe who I saw just now at the park. I was reading, and-
Maze: And, let me guess, you saw Basil and Summer?
Nimbus: Well, um, yeah? How did you know?
Maze: Basil told me they’d be there and he invited me. Told me to invite you as well. I was busy so, well, I didn’t go.
Primrose: Do you know for sure that she thought you were just going as friends, or have you considered that she was under the impression that it was a date?
Maze: ... Oh. That would make sense.
Primrose: Yeah, you should talk to her. I mean, she and I are cool now, and you know that. But there’s likely a reason she doesn’t try to hang out as a big group like we used to. Maybe she feels awkward about it. You probably hurt her feelings back then.
Maze: You’re right. I didn’t even realize. How long did she like me for?
Primrose: You really are oblivious.
Maze: That would make a lot of sense, now that I think about it.
Primrose: Did you never like her back? I figured that you did at some point.
Maze: No! I mean, I did agree to go to the homecoming dance with her, but I thought that was just as friends.
