What are your witches' backgrounds and relationships with each other?
THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!
Okay, so for this one I have like nothing abt setting or backstory basically but they’re all witches in the modern time period and obviously in secret!!! so w/o further ado
Mayum: the mom friend 300000%. She’s a graduate student at a college in New York and technically she could have graduated a year ago but she stayed because she just loves centers for learning sooo much. Tall and stately, and she’s always wearing silks so they billow around her majestically. She’s very calm, levelheaded, and collected, and likes tea a lot. She’s Persian and she visits her home whenever she can. Her hijab is always perfect. Always.
Champakali: Very very bubbly, outgoing, and talkative - she hasn’t stopped talking since the day she was born. She’s always chattering and she’s super short and bounces on her tiptoes a lot, usually with a stack of books clutched to her chest. When she gets angry she screws up her face and her cheeks go dark. Wears round glasses and has craazy long hair. She also loves reading and information (she can speed read like crazy) and WILL write an essay about why you’re wrong just for spite.
Daliah: Basically your typical grunge tumblr girl with the adidas jackets and velvet shorts. She lives in a little apartment in NY and wears a CRAZY amount of eyeshadow w/ black lipstick. Barely has a heart tbh. Her apartment is pretty sparse, and she has absolutely no trace of family anywhere. Prefers levitating her various cacti instead of doing anything ever.
Mayum and Champakali are BFFS5EVER and also they’re girlfriends but not officially. Like, they’re in love with each other and hold hands and hang out with each constantly but neither of them are brave enough to name it (sexualtensionsexualtensionsexualtension). But besides that, they are really good friends. They’re always at the library or at the Greens, a little cafe/park in the middle of campus. Mayum is the calm to Champakali’s excitement and they have perfected the art of studying together. They dream of owning a little apartment together when they graduate with floor-to-wall shelves and tea every hour on the hour.
Mayum and Daliah don’t get along great. Mayum always tries her hardest (and) for diplomacy, but Daliah just doesn’t give two shits, and Mayum hates slackers. It’s very terse between them, constantly. But one time, Mayum found her crying on her patio over a cigarette and a torn up picture of her father and Daliah thinks she’s gonna use it for blackmail and so she’s constantly on edge about it, but eventually she softens.
Daliah pretends to hate Champakali bc she’s noisy, chirpy, and everything Daliah has aspired NOT to be, but secretly, she greatly enjoys her company. Champakali always brings some fresh air into her dark, dingy apartment, because whether she wants to admit it or not, Daliah really needs the company. Mayum doesn’t understand why Champakali sometimes goes to great lengths to get Daliah some groceries or pick up her clothes from the laundromat, but Daliah’s got issues and Champakali understands. Daliah rarely outwardly says thank you, but it’s in the little things, like her accidentally finding the rare book Champakali’s been looking for in a little bookstore on the corner.
