OCkissWeek2026 Day 3 — Heartbreak

Who Are They?
These two are Alexander and Josephine Sisia - the parents of some of my main OC's, such as Kit and Kitt'n. You can see their 2025 submission [ here ].
What's the Story?
So, there's a lot to get into with these two, but I'll keep it as short as possible. Alex and Josephine are tragic lovers, in meaning that their love was enough, but it still didn't save them. Typically it's actually Alex that dies in most of their stories. He often works as a sailor or a soldier (depending on modern or historical context) and he is often lost at sea or killed in action far far away from home. This often leaves Josie destitute with anywhere from 3-4 kids that need care and security. How she handles that situation varies, sometimes she remarries to an abusive man, other times she works herself to the point of sickness. In every story though, her end is the same: She dies, either by her own hand or the hand life has dealt her. There are very few stories where Alex outlives Josephine. Despite that, it was actually how their first story started. After a series of misfortunes, where they lost multiple children, Josie simply couldn't bare to go on anymore. Alex had always known that was a possibility with her. He knew she had a weak heart for how often she put it into everything she did - especially loving her children - and he loved her anyway, because how could he do anything else? He loved Josephine the day he met her. The very moment he laid eyes on her and saw a girl that was so ready to smile for a person despite how devastatingly broken she was. To Alex, she was simply beautiful. And so he fought for her - often even with her - because, if the world refused to treat her right, then he sure as hell would. He would make a life that deserved her. And he did. He built her a nice house far away from the world and gave her all the children she had ever wished for, and he loved her - with all his heart. And when he lost her, he lost his whole world. Despite the world that Josie lives in, without Alex, she was always able to hold onto that. Because she was holding onto what Alex had given her - a whole world to love and fight for. Maybe she was never strong enough to win, but she pushed herself every step of the way until her heart finally gave out. For Alex? Sure, he lives. He often lives a long long life, after Josephine dies - but it could barely be called living. Because when Josie dies, she takes Alex with her, in everything but body. In a world where Josephine dies first, Alex simply fades until he's as old and stiff as the stone he eventually rests his head on to sleep. Never to wake up again.
