An internet purchase because it was on the list. Drunk at the Boyd’s.
The book says: Dark amber beer under a creamy head, sporting a nose of roasted and caramel malts and spices. Has a thick malt base, but the sweetness is reminiscent of liquorice. Full bodied, with a subtle but always present hint of alcohol, while the spices last until the end.
They say: Among the mythical characters living in Fairyland, some are more unusual than others. Malcolm, for example, is different because of his accent and his kilt: when it comes to beer, his favourite is Mc CHOUFFE. The delicious flavours of aniseed, liquorice and toffee tickle his taste buds. If you listen to him, he will boast of its ruby sparkle, its smooth bitterness and its strong character, worthy of his native Scotland. Although robust, Mc CHOUFFE goes down as easily as LA CHOUFFE.
I say: Poured a dark brown colour with an off-white and light head. The aroma was sweet and full of dark fruit, which was also present in the taste. This was sweet and strong, of roasted malt with well-integrated alcohol. Somewhat burnt but sweet overall that turns into a slightly bitter aftertaste. Dangerously easy to drink for an 8.0% ABV
