Mc's and 'kinks'

Before I get into it I'm going to lay out a base definition for 'kink'. 'The term derives from the idea of a "bend" (cf. a "kink") in one's sexual behaviour, to contrast such behaviour with "straight" or "vanilla" sexual mores and proclivities. ' ~ wiki

In short it's a bend or kink in one's sexual behaviour that is outside the 'vanilla' I bring this up because while writing Kyle's I realize a lot of his 'kinks' aren't just tied to sex, however they can be easily carry over into a sexual setting.

Kyle; (Switch leaning sub)

-Pet play; before anyone who doesn't know what it is assumes anything it is NOT beastiality nor connected to it.

Pet play for Kyle is leash's and collars, commands with praise and punishments, it's also less about actually pretending to be an animal for Kyle more than it is about being someone's pet. This is the first kink I put for Kyle because he doesn't just do it under sexual circumstances. For example in the paid scene during the masquerade during Nadia's route Kyle is happy to lay at her feet and would be just as happy to lay in her lap spread out like, you guessed it a pet. With one of his biggest cuddling weaknesses being head scratches it just makes it that much better.

- Teasing; by that I don't mean anything as deep as humiliation and degrading but more gentle nips around his neck, a hot breath against his neck and more sensitive areas. Feeling of teeth scraping against him with the promise of being bitten without actually being bitten. Little things that's leave him feeling hotter and more riled up.

- mild breeding kink; one of his most mild kinks. Something he'd probably never bring up or ask for but if it ended up happening he wouldn't have anything against it and would lean into it. I.E if his partner started threatening to breed him, he'd either lean into with con noncon or by begging for it. (In general it would've had to have been talked about before hand. Otherwise Kyle might bluescreen or think their being serious.)

- mild praise kink; who doesn't love to be praised? I'd put it more under praise for doing something rather than typical praise. I.E being told he's a good boy for biting the right spots or for doing a good job. Rather than being praised for just existing.

- cuddling; nonsexual or sexual cuddling is one of the fastest ways to get Kyle to relax. Aftercare definitely involves around some cuddling.

Turn offs;

- Blood/pain; some pain like being bitten is fine the moment it goes into stuff like being whipped and clawed at he starts to back down a bit. Their are exceptions like a few scratches from Devil Nadia's nails but for the most part Kyle isn't going to ask to be shredded or smacked. If he's getting hurt enough for blood that definitely going to make him feel more uncomfortable.

Brown and yellow bodily fluids (I'm not writing the kinks names.); the biggest turn off for Kyle.

Hunter; (dom leaning switch)

- pain/impact play; they have a pain kink, being bitten, scratched, whipped, they adore it. As long as it's not taken too far, due to having a phobia of blood.

- chocking/breath play; not enough for them to black out enough for the feeling of being choked.

- Bondage; the idea of being tied up and unable to move.

- fire play; being gently burned and playing with fire. (Carefully so no major damage is done.)

- knife play: especially as a part of their pain kink.

- mild medical play: play or scene using medical equipment/tools.

- Body worship; put with mild because it can be good or bad depending on how it goes. They hate the fact their albino so body praise around that will be a lot less effective than general how pretty/handsome they are.

Turn offs;

- Blood play; their phobia of blood would make them extremely uncomfortable around it.

- pet play; the idea of being in the pet role makes them feel bad to put it lightly.

- brown and yellow stuff; lesser extent than Kyle but still finds it gross.

Bluebell; (sub)

- sensory deprivation; especially around sight and sound. Leaving them at the mercy of their lovers touch

- food play; especially when their the pampered one being feed but they also love being able to spoil their LI

- Claustrophilia; having sex in a closed environment like a wardrobe.

Turn offs;

- pee and poo; less than Hunter being around animals a lot means their not as grossed put by it but they don't find it sexy

- pain play; they don't enjoy pain very much and prefer soft sex.

Kyle's 5W's and How

After thinking about this for a bit, I decided to use this to dive into Kyle a bit more and hopefully show why I love him. This is inspired by @sweetestlittledarling's post.

(Note; this takes place post-plague and pre-game. Think a few days before the game is set.)

Who is Kyle?

Kyle is a young magician's apprentice who's around two years younger than Asra.

He has bright blue eyes with small islands of green scattered throughout them. This is due to having segmented heterochromia in both eyes. (He has been told he has the world in his eyes.)

He has short, fluffy, bright red hair that's less curly than Asra's but just as fluffy.

Kyle has a skin tone closest to Muriel's, but if you look closely, you can see little specks of dark skin (freckles) but also pale, harder-to-see ones.

Standing at a whopping 4'4, he makes even Portia look tall. His small height is surprisingly not genetic but rather a magic phenomenon that happens in his birth country. Birds, lizards, bats, dragons, fish, and plants all have the chance to be a lot smaller than normal. This magic means that if Kyle had kids, he would be as safe as a normal-sized person having a baby in those times.

Having ADHD and ASD He has sensitivities to certain textures and flavors. Being sensitive to both spicy food and minty food, while absolutely loving Selasi's mint tea due to the baker making sure to make his cup mild mint instead of the normal rich flavor that causes Kyle to reflexively scrunch up his nose. Some textures he's sensitive to are silk; he loves the feeling of silk clothes, but one time when Asra swapped the bed cover with silk, it left Kyle sleeping downstairs until it was changed back. Don't worry, Asra was able to repurpose it into a bunch of different items and arts and crafts projects. Nothing was wasted.)

While I don't tend to do voice claims, I did it for Kyle and a few other characters and used this as the voice claim for Kyle, with the difference being that Kyle has a Kiwi accent. But this is close to what I imagine his tone, pitch, etc. to sound like.

What is Kyle?

I could give the generic answer of, well, Kyle is a human moving on. However, I want to dive into this a bit. What makes Kyle who he is?

I could see an answer of his free spirit. But what does that actually mean to Kyle as a person? Since it's not always exploring, it's the way he pauses to watch a leaf fall, to watch a bird hop around, the way he goes into new shops he's never been in just to look around.

But that isn't all of it.

He's kind. Another vague word. Which in this case is his ability to stand up for others even when it's scary. The way he sometimes brings a huge pot down to the beach to make a ton of soup for those who need it. The way he will go out of his way to help those he can.

Yet, even then, he'd argue those are more selfish than kind. He brings soup to hear stories, and because he's not feeling good, he helps people because it makes him feel good.

In reality, asking the 'what' is always going to be harder than the 'who.'

Why is Kyle Kyle?

This might be a stupid question on the surface, but why is Kyle the way he is?

Diving pre-plague, a lot of his formative years were spent around a tropical forest, large trees, large birds, humid air, and mild winters.

But the earliest thing to define him was in his original home being ignored by the elders. Being allowed to wonder while being small meant he was easy prey for large birds, and while he obviously survived all the attacks, it did leave him with scars on his shoulders.

Then there was the time he snuck onto a boat to join his dad on a trip and accidently caused his dad's death. (The boat crashing didn't kill him, but by the time Kyle got help, a flock of StormBird's had gotten him. Giant birds that fly around during heavy storms looking for food.)

Then in his new home, he was told who he should be by different people who had different wants for him.

Having his home burned down in front of him, he became a pirate for a few years as free passage towards Vesuvia, where he heard of someone who shared a last name.

Finally learning magic from his aunt.

A lot has shaped Kyle, and while it's been long forgotten by Kyle himself, he will always carry the scars of how it shaped who he is as a person.

When is Kyle, Kyle?

Kyle is mostly himself when he forgets about thinking; a few examples are;

When the shop is filled with people as Kyle bounces between customer service, helping people find items, and restocking shelves.

Birdwatching/animal watching. Even if it's watching Faust make her way from one side of the shop to the other.

Half asleep cuddles with Asra, where his brain is turned off and he's already halfway towards sleeping.

Speaking of half asleep, also early mornings when Kyle is just waking up.

So basically whenever he isn't overthinking himself or the world around him and can just enjoy being alive.

How is Kyle?

He's good.

He hides his insecurity about his height by playing into his childish clothing choice and baby face. Using any infantilization of him to the person's disadvantage as he analyzes everyone as thoroughly as Nadia does.

While he appears cheerful and sweet, the truth is he just likes being happy. He likes being able to openly smile to openly laugh and to try his hardest to look on the bright side. While he does have pessimistic thoughts, he buries them with kindness to himself and others. 'What if his friends secretly hate him?' 'Then it's on them for not telling him, and all he can do is try his best to be the best person he can be.' 'Nobody cares what he has to say?' 'He cares, and that's enough.'

While he isn't prone to depression, he needs support from people due to his ADHD and ASD. He won't remember to do certain things, and the shop and house will slowly clutter and fall apart around him. Which will cause him to suffer through depressive episodes as he loses control of his environment, leaving it inhabitable. Kyle is unable to fully take care of himself, and he knows this. This is why he has Bluebell and Hunter as friends who'll check in and help him when Asra's away on long trips.

He's braver than he thinks he is. Partly due to ASD and partly due to learning in a supportive environment, he doesn't fear people as much as he used to. Making him more and more willing to stand up to people who are otherwise scary. Muriel is nearly twice his height, and yet the only time in the game he's ever felt scared of Muriel was one time in Nadia's route, where Muriel suddenly stands between him and the bear carving, towering over him, and twice in Asra's route, once during a dream and once during their first? meeting. Even when scared, he's calm trusting himself and his ability to handle the situation. He's willing to face Muriel head-on, not because he thinks he could take Muriel in a fight but because he trusts himself and his magic to be able to get him away before a fight breaks out or before he gets hit. A shield spell to block the blow and retreating.

Despite being quite smart, he feels like an absolute idiot a lot. Yet he knows deep down this is just his own insecurities and works through this by writing things down to help with his sometimes horrible working memory and short-term memory.

He knows he's not perfect and has learned how to be okay with that and, over time, how to forgive himself more than he used to be able to do. And because of that, he's good.

Rare smiles

I decided to add shipping, I would type a rare smile for each MLI;

Kyle;

Asra;

One of the rare smiles is one shared between them. It's a small subtle smile typically mirrored across a room or at a table as a subtle. 'Are you hearing this shit?' with the other usually having a subtle body language reply such as a tiny half shrug or returning the smile back in agreement.

Nadia;

One of the rare smiles for Nadia is a full-on grin. By that, I mean not a soft smile or a more elegant one, but the type of smile that you have no control over. The kind where you don't even realize you're grinning until it's pointed out. While similar to a genuine smile that Nadia gives often, this is more intense and less caring about appearance.

On the reverse, a rare smile from Kyle is a very small, typically lopsided smile. The reason this smile is rare is that it's typically one Kyle does without realizing it when feeling extremely awkward and nervous at the same time. It's either a way to deflect these feelings by trying to smile to show themselves their calm or a way to appear like their happy. It's hard to tell due to it being more of a reflex than actually thought about behavior.

Hunter;

Julian;

With Julian, it's a well-rested smile. A soft smile of a well-rested Dr. Similar to his normal smile, it's just a bit deeper and just a bit more sincere even if he doesn't notice any difference himself. Hunter is great at telling the two smiles apart.

In another uno reverse situation, Hunter's rare smile, especially around Julian, is their sleepy smile. Dispite being just as eger to work to exhaustion, this actually typically leaves Hunter either tired or fully rested. When waking up, they tend to jump into full awakeness, making one of the rare smiles for Hunter being during the limited times when their sleepy rather than awake or tired.

Portia;

A rare smile shared between them is a double knife cat. If you see them exchange this smile, you know shit is about to go down. The reason this is rare is that usually, Portia is able to deal with entitled people, but sometimes you need someone who's not afraid to lose some social status. Thus, Hunter is called into action with a single smile.

Muriel;

A rare smile is one shared between them. Typically, it's Hunter giving Muriel a subtle smile, warning him that their about to do something. With Muriel ether returning it as a 'go ahead' or keeping his sharp look as a 'don't'. Typically, whatever Hunter ends up doing leads to them getting in some sort of trouble. However, sometimes it's needed, especially if it's to get attention away from Muriel when their out and about. Being a city hero has some downsides when you don't like attention.

Bluebell;

Lucio;

For someone who loves to smile a lot, you'd think their wouldn't be many rare smiles. However, one of the rarest smiles is one of safety and security. A small, gentle smile usually shared while starting to fall asleep or after waking up. Small one filled with security.

With Bluebell being Bluebell, one of the rarest smiles from them is a genuine grin. A big bright smile where, for those moments, nothing else exists when they forget their insecurities and worries, even if only for a few precious moments.

A swap of Familiars

(This is going to be rushed because I forgot to write it.)

Hunter;

Hunter has two familiars Ruby and Goldy. Goldy is a goldfish that Hunter keeps in their necklace. A metal loop with illusion magic build into it to make it look like glass, see-through and everything but still as strong as metal. Due to this Goldy isn't going to be swapped. Ruby however is a red-tailed black cockatoo and is open for a familiar swap.

Ruby being a used to be wild cockatoo can be loud and aggressive however she holds her beck for the right times. Someone is gently scratching her? she's sweet as sugar, someone trying to take away her treat and she's nipping and screeching as a warning, and if that doesn't work? Well say goodbye to your top and middle knuckles.

Muriel;

The biggest reason for a familiar swap is the shopping trip. Hunter doesn't mind going shopping without Muriel and only encourages him to go if he's having a good day.

However Ruby doesn't always want to go either. Big crows, lots of noise, not a lot of good perches, lots of birds to fight for treats with and she doesn't like the crows. This means when she does go she either stays with Muriel or Hunter. So it isn't uncommon for Hunter to go alone.

Being a big strong person they don't really need the back up. However, they do spoil Inanna as much as they spoil their own familiars.

With that said Muriel and Ruby get along great when together. Ruby enjoys sitting on Muriel's shoulder and watching him do work or fly around nearby keeping an eye out for other people. Having a call for Hunter, Asra, Inanna and strangers. The strangers call is split in three, unknown call for people without obvious motives, help call for those who are injured or lost and the rarest one a danger one where the people are clearly out for blood most likely animal blood (aka hunters).

As for Inanna and Hunter they get along just as great. What's better than one 'leave me alone face?' that and a large wolf. While they don't look for trouble Inanna knows if something is going down at the market it isn't hard for her to get Hunter to do something about it depending on what it is and if innocent people are getting hurt. However, luckily for their shopping trips together most of the time nothing happens and they end up having a treat on the way back with Hunter having a treat for Muriel in with the shopping (usually eels).

Julian;

As for them having two birds the biggest reason for a familiar swap is when the familiars themselves decide to swap.

For examples when Malak doesn't feel like flying around keeping an eye on Julian, Ruby will follow Julian. Usually at a distance at first but then usually landing on Julian startling him since when he goes to shoo Malak and seeing ruby instead is always a surprise. Since they are similar size and both jet black.

While it's hard for Malak to confuse Hunter it doesn't stop him from mimicking Ruby and trying to trick Hunter into thinking Ruby had decided to stay at home. While it mostly fails it does occasionally work while Hunter doesn't usually jump they do get a small flinch when their expecting red and black and not just solid black.

Portia;

While usually familiar swaps don't happen, however when their in Vesuvia Hunter does a lot of quick jobs usually unloading boats or just general physical labor.

During these days Ruby usually follows Hunter from the sky keeping an eye on Hunter and making sure nothing happens and if something does happen she can get back up. However, sometimes when she's tired or doesn't want to fly long distances she'll join Portia. Helping keep Camio from bugging Portia and doing Pepi's job of shooing him away. Being a lot more dominate than a was always pet bird.

As for Pepi when Ruby hangs around Portia for the day she tends to join Hunter. Jumping onto their shoulders as their leaving and during jobs will run around Hunter. When she's too much in the way Hunter will scoop her up and put her on their shoulders.

Kyle;

Kyle also has two familiars a kea named Kai and a dragon named Emerald. So their both open for familiar swaps.

Kai being a kea is a loud and a smart parrot is a trouble maker. She will make trouble over food, her play items and can be a big brat.

Emerald is a sweet and gentle soul but being a feathery dragon often gets mixed up for someone that could kill without trying. While she is the height of Portia on all 4's (aka big) she is actually a mostly gentle soul. Being a big puppy at heart.

With that said to keep on time I'm going to assume Emerald is the familiar for this swap and you'll see why.

Asra;

They surprisingly have probably the most familiar swaps. This is due to Kyle getting up much earlier to do shopping before the shop opens. While he doesn't mind going by himself Faust will occasionally sleepily join especially in winter. As in winter Kyle's clothes have a magic signina that makes his clothes warm much to Faust's enjoyment.

This leads to Asra waking up to Faust and Kyle gone but not usually for long and a big fluffy dragon in Kyle's spot in the bed. Usually this leads to one of two things, Asra getting up and getting started on tea for when Kyle returns soon or staying in bed. If they choice to stay in bed Emerald will usually lay her head on top of Asra's chest and enjoy extra cuddles before moving when Kyle returns to let Kyle join the bed cuddles before they ahve to get up.

Aside from that a much less often reason for a familiar swap is sometimes when Asra is heading to a colder area or during winter Faust will stay home where it's nice and warm. While Emerald who has a thick layer of feathers to help with the cold would join Asra. While Asra and Kyle can communicate to each other it's still funny to hear what the familiars think are important. Like that time Emerald used the link to call Kyle to hype about snow for a solid half hour while Asra got to watch Emerald run around them biting at the falling snow and rolling around.

Nadia;

They have the least reason to swap familiars so the reason for a familiar swap is usually only one of two reasons.

1. Kyle is going on a trip that Nadia can't join. This isn't often but Kyle loves to go on what he has dubbed the Blueberry run. (long story and I'm rushing it but basically a two-three week long trip where he ends up with a bunch of blueberries when he's done.) During this Chandra will join Kyle to help him and Nadia keep in contact and because it gives her the chance to hunt in areas outside Vesuvia's city/the garden. She once eat a stoat it was awesome.

2. Nadia has someone she want's to intimated even more than her own overly intimidating presence does. Well then she knows someone who has a full blown dragon. While Emerald is a big puppy people who don't know her don't know that so it can look like Nadia is just vibing with a Portia sized lizard. It especially helps when they don't know Emerald can't breath fire and the fact Emerald knows exactly how to post next to Nadia to appear as tame as an unchained lion. Being able to pull off some rather regal poses, some of which she knew how to do intuitively and others she had Nadia teach her.

Bluebell;

Bluebell has a house sparrow called Chirps. Chirps is a house sparrow small and quick but honestly one strong hit and she's gone down. (fun fact Chirps is trans. Going by she/her while having the male patterns.)

Lucio;

I honestly don't know a reason why they'd swap familiars. Chirps is quiet small and weak and Lucio has two dogs so usually when they split up they just take a dog each and sometimes Chirps will follow Lucio. But this usually just leads to her being cozy on Lucio's shoulder. Only very rarely does she act as look out since the dogs already have that covered.
